The European Commission seeks proposals for development of climate change risk assessments in European regions and communities. The project is expected to develop an operational more advanced multi-risk assessment framework tool, enhance adaptive capacity of communities and reduce vulnerability to climate change. To be eligible for funding, applicants must be established in the European Union, the Overseas Countries and Territories of the EU, or low- and middle-income countries. The University of Queensland Australia, in partnership with edX, offers an online course on climate change science. Participants will develop the skills and knowledge to better understand climate change, identify the techniques and fallacies that climate myths employ to distort climate science, and learn to effectively debunk climate misinformation. CAF Development Bank of Latin America supports research projects that contribute to the understanding of the costs and benefits that tackling climate change and preserving the environment entail. A maximum of three prizes will be awarded. Each winning proposal will receive a research grant of up to US$15 thousand to carry out the project. The Asian Development Bank (ADB) seeks 15 youth from atoll nations who are passionate and committed to being young leaders for change through climate action. The selected youth will be part of the project on “Catalyzing Youth-led Climate Action” and undergo capacity building through a series of training sessions. After capacity building, project teams will work on youth-led climate project demonstrations to be presented at the Ocean Conference (Palau, April 2022). Participants will each receive a certificate of completion from ADB Youth for Asia as well as a daily allowance and communication support for a total of 50 days. Eligibility extends to youth aged 18-30 years old currently living in any of the atoll nations (Marshall Islands, Kiribati, Tuvalu, or the Maldives). The Initiative for Climate Action Transparency (ICAT) seeks a grantee to develop a methodology that supports the tracking of climate finance at the national level, links climate action to climate finance, and enables the integration of such data in a country’s transparency framework. The grantee will also provide technical support to up to three developing countries in developing a national framework to assess the climate finance needed. Village Capital seeks small and medium-sized enterprises and startups that are scaling market-based and contextualized solutions to critical climate adaptation and resilience challenges. Participants from Africa and Asia will have access to a one-week intensive virtual training program. Eligibility extends to companies developing or offering products and/or services (ideally technology-enabled) that increase the resilience of target users to the impacts of climate change. The EKOenergy Climate Fund calls for project proposals to enhance capacities of local communities to implement renewable energy projects, and to establish renewable electricity installations. The call aims to alleviate energy poverty and social inequality in developing countries. The Fund seeks to support 6-10 solar and wind energy projects with a financial contribution in the range of €10 thousand to €40 thousand. The REACT Sub-Saharan Africa Program makes grants to clean energy providers in Kenya to drive the expansion of access to clean energy across the country. The program supports renewable energy products or services, access to energy and electricity, cook stoves and fuel solutions, and mini-grids. The maximum award per company is US$500 thousand.
