Hungary’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade guides the country’s policy and planning of international development cooperation. The Ministry relies on inter-ministerial committees to participate in decisions regarding development aid and humanitarian aid.

In its bilateral aid, Hungary aims to collaborate closely with the other new EU member states of Central Europe.

Hungary’s development assistance includes interests in agriculture, water management, and environmental protection.

Grant Programs for Agriculture, Energy, Environment, Natural Resources

1 — Civil Society Organizations in Hungary. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs supports Hungarian development NGOs for actions related to governance, civil society, education, health, and environment.

APPLICATION: The Ministry’s co-financing of Hungarian NGOs is through calls for proposals. Each call is accompanied by an application form and budget form.

 

2 — Civil Society Organizations in Developing Countries. Hungary’s embassies in a few developing countries make micro-grants to local organizations for strengthening civil society, assisting disadvantaged groups, and supporting agriculture.

APPLICATION: Seekers of funding for micro-projects should direct their inquiries to the Hungarian embassies. Only a few of the embassies participate.
