The Agropolis Foundation funds research and higher education in agricultural sciences for sustainable development.

The Foundation draws on science expertise in Montpellier, France, in collaboration with international partners. Montpellier hosts one of the world’s largest concentrations of expertise in tropical and Mediterranean agriculture, food science, and biodiversity and environment.

Grant Programs for Agriculture, Energy, Environment, Natural Resources

1 — Research Grants and Networking Support. The Agropolis Foundation makes grants to establish and strengthen scientific platforms and projects in its areas of expertise.

Projects — Grants for research projects promote interaction between social and bio-technical sciences, as well as between temperate, Mediterranean, and tropical issues. The Foundation is interested in fostering international partnerships.

Courses and Seminars — Grants for international training support courses and seminars by the Foundation’s research units and/or distinguished guests. A significant number of targeted participants are from developing and emerging countries.

Small Grants — Small grants help fund scientific events, preparation of project proposals, international travel, research dissemination, exploratory projects of high risk, and hosting of pre-doctoral students.

2– Fellowships. The Agropolis Fellowship Program funds senior researchers, junior researchers, doctoral and post-doctoral fellows, and visiting fellows from around the world. The Foundation encourages applications from candidates who are from, or have worked in, developing and emerging countries.

APPLICATION (for 1-2 preceding): When funding is available, Agropolis announces calls for proposals on its website. Each call usually includes eligibility criteria, application forms, calendar deadlines, and supporting materials (in French and English).

The Louis Malassis International Scientific Prize recognizes individuals for exemplary and promising contributions in agricultural innovations. One award is made to a distinguished senior scientist, and another to a promising young scientist. The Prize is awarded every two years.
