Formed in 2013, Sea Pact is an alliance of leading North American seafood distributors. Sea Pact makes grants to support continuous improvements for fisheries and aquaculture consistent with environmental sustainability.

Grant Programs for Agriculture, Energy, Environment, Natural Resources

Grants for environmentally sustainable fisheries and aquaculture. Sea Pact makes grants to improve fisheries and aquaculture, focusing on projects that provide a foundation for long-term sustainability of the seafood industry. Subject areas include:

  • Improvement in equipment and technologies;
  • Species research and data;
  • Research to improve fish farming;
  • Fisheries management;
  • Regional aquaculture management;
  • Restoration of fishery habitat;
  • Enhancement of wild stocks;
  • Fisheries conservation;
  • Fisheries improvement projects;
  • Aquaculture improvement projects.

Sea Pact prefers to support projects on the world’s major seafood species. Past projects include examples in Brazil, Chile, Panama, Philippines, USA, and internationally (i.e., topics of global significance).

Eligibility for grants extends to both for-profit and non-profit organizations. Grants range from US$10 thousand to US$30 thousand.

Applicants summarize the proposed project’s goal and benefits; the intended use of the grant funds; how the project will be monitored and evaluated; project risks; and plans for longer-term project financing and management. Additionally, applicants provide a profile of their organization and its programs and accomplishments.
