Rare

Rare2Support for capacity building of partner organizations for community conservation

Principal Office: USA

Rare aims to build the capacity of conservation leaders in developing countries to change human behaviors that are destructive to the environment.

Rare does this by choosing local implementing partners that lead “pride campaigns” to inspire communities to take pride in their natural heritage, and to work towards conservation solutions that do not sacrifice other needs.

Rare offers packages of training and related services, and it helps implementation partners to locate funding for their pride campaigns.

Grant Programs for Agriculture, Energy, Environment, Natural Resources

1 — Pride Campaigns. Rare provides training, technical support, and mentoring to partner organizations it selects to lead pride campaigns. In each partner organization, a staff person is chosen to manage the pride campaign. Rare financially supports campaign managers to receive university training that alternates with field work at the conservation sites.

Rare’s implementing partners are a cross-section of local, regional, and international organizations. Existing partners include conservation NGOs; several types of cultural and educational organizations; government units and agencies; and international organizations engaged in local conservation projects.
