Small Initiatives Program — Nature Conservation in Africa

The Small Initiatives Program (PPI) launches a call for project proposals for emerging African Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) working around major issues of nature conservation and/or the fight against climate change. The eligible themes are the conservation of biodiversity and the fight against climate change through nature-based solutions. The maximum contribution is €35 thousand. Government of India — Young Scientists Innovator Prize

The BRICS Young Scientist Forum seeks to strengthen existing bilateral and multilateral relations as well as cooperation among its member countries Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa. BRICS invites proposals from young scientists with projects in the thematic areas of biomedicine, low-carbon technology, artificial intelligence, renewable energy, and modern agriculture for the 7th BRICS-YSF Conclave in China. All participants will have the opportunity to attend the activities of the Science Communication Program. The program is open to scientists, engineers, technologists, innovators, science journalists, science professionals and researchers. Candidates to the BRICS Young Innovator Prize must be under the age of 30. Please note that candidates working in a private company are not eligible. Projects must be submitted until 10 July 2022. Aspire Coronation Trust Foundation — Development Grants for Africa

The Aspire Coronation Trust (ACT) Foundation makes grants to local, national and regional organizations working to address challenges across the African continent. The Changemakers Innovation Challenge is open to non-profits and social enterprises who are using various technological tools to create innovative social solutions. Organizations must submit social solutions within the key focus areas: Health, Entrepreneurship, Environment or Leadership. Three winners will split the award of ₦15 million. United States Agency for International Development — Food Security in Liberia

The Food Security, Nutrition and Resilience (FSNR) activity aims to increase agriculture-led economic growth, through improved productivity to enhance food security and nutrition in Liberia. USAID seeks applications to implement the USAID/FSNR Activity. The five-year activity will be funded with a total estimated amount of approximately US$20 million. The activity will be implemented in Liberia and target smallholder and subsistence farmers, agricultural cooperatives, and women and youth groups. Eligibility for this call is not restricted. U.S. Mission to Zambia — Funding for Community Organizations

The Ambassador’s Special Self-Help (ASSH) Program is a grants program that seeks to improve community-based natural resource management. ASSH announces an open competition for organizations in Zambia to submit applications to carry out small, community-based activities. Funding aims at assisting community groups to develop lasting, self-sustaining projects with focus on promoting the conservation of natural resources and developing sustainable tourism, among others. Earth Journalism Network — Stop Spillover Story Grants

The Earth Journalism Network (EJN) offers story grants to journalists from Bangladesh, Cambodia, Côte d’Ivoire, Liberia, Sierra Leone, Uganda, and Vietnam to report on viral zoonotic diseases and efforts to prevent their spillover from animals to humans. EJN aims to support the production of stories that raise awareness about viral zoonotic diseases and drive conversation among communities and policy makers. Applications are open to journalists working in any medium (online, print, television, radio). Freelance reporters and staff reporters from international, national, local or community-based outlets are eligible. BioInnovate Africa — Collaboration Projects in Eastern Africa

BioInnovate Africa supports scientists in eastern Africa to link biologically based research ideas, inventions, and technologies to business and the market. BioInnovate invites concept notes to co-develop value-added products (goods and services) from biological resources, such as agro-produce, biological waste conversion, or biologically based healthcare products. Target beneficiaries are scientists working in universities, research institutes, private sector companies as well as smallholder farmers and communities in Burundi, Ethiopia, Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), Kenya, Rwanda, South Sudan, Tanzania, and Uganda. International Development Research Centre — Strengthening Research in West Africa

The International Development Research Centre (IDRC) calls for proposals to support the strengthening of national research and innovation funding agencies in West Africa. The Science Granting Councils Initiative invites proposals from organizations (including think tanks, institutes, universities and agencies) based in Africa Burkina Faso, Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, Nigeria, Senegal and Sierra Leone. Organizations should have proven experience and track records in areas such as public sector science, technology and innovation; strengthening organizational capacity; and national science, among others. JRS Biodiversity Foundation — Information on Freshwater Biodiversity and Pollinator Biodiversity in Africa

The JRS Biodiversity Foundation aims to increase the access to and the use of information for biodiversity conservation and sustainable development in Sub-Saharan Africa. The current call for proposals requests multi-year projects focused on biodiversity data, knowledge, and information services related to freshwater biodiversity and pollinator biodiversity in Eastern and Southern Africa. Preference is for projects that can grow to larger scale, or that can be transferred across geographic regions or across organizational and institutional contexts. U.S. African Development Foundation — Agricultural Cooperatives in Nigeria

The U.S. African Development Foundation (USADF) and Ekiti State Government (EKSG) invites proposals for grant financing and local support for innovative solutions that improve farmer incomes and achieve sustainable market-based growth. Proposals will be accepted from registered agricultural cooperatives, producer groups, and agricultural processors in Nigeria. Grant awards range from US$50 thousand to US$250 thousand.
