The “Boosting Resilience and Adaptation to Climate Change (BREACH)” program has the objective to increase systemic resilience to climate change and food crises in Somalia. The European Commission calls for proposals that improve prevention of and preparedness for food crises in communities in vulnerable situations, achieve durable solutions to displacement, and combat the climate crisis through reforestation and land restoration. The Flemish Inter-University Council (VLIR-UOS) invites applications for Short Initiative projects that aim to build and deepen academic/scientific collaborations among diverse teams of academics and researchers. Short Initiatives focus on a sustainable development challenge. The objective is to strengthen research and educational capacities of higher education and science institutions in partner countries in Latin America, Africa and Southeastern Asia. Southeast Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture — Grants for Research towards Agricultural Innovative Solutions
SEARCA GRAINS offers short-term starter funds to collaborative actions aimed at transformative innovations for more sustainable agriculture and rural development across Southeast Asia. GRAINS will support the translational research and community knowledge transfer of technologies and products that will lead to diffusion or adoption of innovative solutions in agriculture. Funding ranges from US$ 5 thousand to US$15 thousand. The grant is open to academic/research, private, government or non-government institutions, farmer groups and cooperatives. Canadian International Development Research Center — IDRC Research Awards 2023
The International Development Research Center (IDRC) makes research awards to citizens and permanent residents of Canada, and to citizens of developing countries. The award provides for a one-year paid program of research in addition to hands-on experience in research management, grant administration, and the use of knowledge from an international perspective. Six positions are available at IDRC’s head office in Ottawa (Canada). Program areas include climate resilience and sustainable food systems; and several others. Applicants should be enrolled, or have previously completed, their masters or doctoral degrees at recognized universities. EIT Food Call — Technology Solutions in the Agri-Food Sector
EIT Food invests in projects, organizations and individuals with innovative solutions for a healthy and more sustainable food system. EIT Food co-funds the development of commercial projects in the agrifood sector. The selected organization will receive funding of up to €600 thousand per activity for 12 months or up to €1,2 million per activity over a maximum of 24 months. The Women’s World Summit Foundation (WWSF) invites nominations for its annual Prize for Women’s Creativity in Rural Life. The prize honors women’s groups for exceptional creativity, courage, and commitment to improve the quality of life in rural communities. Global Agriculture and Food Security Program — Recovery of Agriculture and Food Systems
The Global Agriculture and Food Security Program (GAFSP) announces a call for proposals for programs and projects that strengthen agriculture and lessen food insecurity in low-income countries. The program will support medium- to long-term COVID-19 response efforts for a more sustainable, inclusive, and resilient recovery of agriculture and food systems in a changing climate. GAFSP intends to fund 5-8 proposals for a total of at least US$175 million. Applications (English and French) are invited from governments in the 56 member countries of the International Development Association in East Asia and the Pacific; South Asia; Eastern and Central Europe; the Middle East; Africa; and Latin America. Canada Fund for Local Initiatives — Community Projects in the Caribbean Islands
The Canada Fund for Local Initiatives invites proposals that meet the needs of local communities in Dominica, Grenada, Saint Lucia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines. The priorities under this call include women’s economic rights, decent jobs and entrepreneurship, and investing in the poorest and most vulnerable (which may include agriculture or aquaculture projects), as well as environment, climate action focusing on adaptation and mitigation, and water management.
