Center for Science and Technology of the Non-Aligned and Other Developing Countries — Fellowship in Tropical Coastal Marine Research

The NAM S&T Centre invites applications from scientists from the developing countries for the Joint NAM S&T Centre – ZMT Bremen (Germany) Fellowship in Tropical Coastal Marine Research. Under this scheme, five selected scientists will work with senior researchers and faculty members in fields related to Ecology, Biogeochemistry, Geology, and Tropical Coastal Marine Systems; and undertaking short-term joint research projects for a period of up to 3 months. Universitas Gadjah Mada — Gadjah Mada International Fellowship

The Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) offers a scholarship to international students from ASEAN member countries (excluding Indonesia), South Korea, Japan, China, Taiwan that demonstrate the need of financial assistance. Study courses include agriculture, forestry, biology, and veterinary medicine. The GMIF program covers tuition fees, living allowance, international airfare, and thesis research of Rp10 million for the Master Program and Rp15 million for the Doctoral Program. World Academy of Sciences — Postdoctoral Fellowships in Malaysia

TWAS offers postdoc fellowships to young scientists from developing countries (other than Malaysia) who wish to pursue advanced research in the natural sciences at the Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) in Penang, Malaysia. The duration of the fellowships is 12 months to 3 years. Subject areas range across the physical and natural sciences, including agricultural sciences. Southeast Asian Regional Centre for Tropical Biology — Training Courses, Seminars, and Workshops 2019

The Southeast Asian Regional Centre for Tropical Biology (SEAMO BIOTROP) aims to increase the knowledge and skills of ASEAN professionals and students on a wide range of topics in tropical biology. Unless otherwise indicated, training courses are conducted at the SEAMEO BIOTROP headquarter in Bogor, Indonesia. Priority is for nationals of SEAMEO member countries, especially in the sponsored courses. The remaining BIOTROP courses and seminars for 2019 are scheduled from July through October. Society for International Development — Andrew E. Rice Award 2019

The Andrew E. Rice Award for Leadership and Innovation recognizes the achievements of an exceptional young professional working in the field of international development. Past winners include field research on agriculture strategies and the creation of low-cost digital games that inspire social change. Candidates must be between 22 to 32 years old and have at least two years of experience in international development in developing countries. The winner will receive US$1,000. Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey — Research Fellowships 2019

The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK) awards research fellowships to international highly qualified PhD students and young postdoctoral researchers. Applicants should be non-Turkish citizens who are age 35 or younger. Preference is for candidates who have the potential to contribute to Turkey’s international cooperation in scientific and technological development. The fields of research collaboration include agricultural sciences, among others. The research fellowship provides a monthly stipend of 2,500 Turkish Liras, plus travel and health insurance. The Mwalimu Nyerere African Union Scholarship Scheme encourages the participation of young African refugees and internally displaced persons at postgraduate level, for Masters and PhD programmes in the fields of Natural Sciences, Agriculture, Health, Education, Engineering, and Social Sciences. Candidates must be under 35 years and have proof of admission to undertake a full time Masters program at a recognized university of an African Union Member State. Fulbright Scholar Program — Postdoctoral Awards for U.S. Scholars 2020-2021

The Fulbright Postdoctoral Scholar Awards are open to U.S. scholars who have recently completed their doctoral degrees or other terminal degrees. The selected individuals engage in research, teaching, and mentoring at their host institutions — including institutions in developing countries. Czech Academy of Sciences — Studentship in Tropical Ecology

The Ecology Department at the Biology Center of the Czech Academy of Science and the Zoology Department of the University of South Bohemia invite PhD applicants to join a project exploring plant-herbivore interactions in the lowland rainforest in Papua New Guinea. The selected candidate will live in Czech Republic, conduct field work in New Guinea, and carry out the chemistry analysis with collaborators in Germany, Finland and the US.  Applicants from any nationality are eligible. Franklin Institute — Bower Award for Science Achievement 2020

The Bower Award is made to individuals who have made significant contributions to understanding and quantifying perturbations of natural systems within the biosphere, atmosphere, or hydrosphere in the age of the Anthropocene. The award is a 14k gold medal and a cash prize of US$250 thousand. The competition is open internationally. Self-nominations are accepted.
