HCLTech — Climate Action Grant

HCLTech launches the Climate Action Grant to provide grants to non-governmental organizations combating climate change and restoring ecosystems and biodiversity across the Americas. HCLTech accepts proposals for climate action in focus areas such as wildlife and biodiversity conservation; land and ocean action; clean energy; climate advocacy; campaigns; and climate risk reduction. SVG Ventures — Global Accelerator for Agrifood Tech Startups

Silicon Valley Global Ventures is an investment, technology and advisory firm that invests in companies that go through their accelerator program. The THRIVE Global Impact Challenge seeks innovative startups who are advancing a more sustainable future for agriculture. Selected companies benefit from an accelerator program that provides investment, mentorship and direct access to agriculture companies and farmers. The application deadline is 10 November 2023. Private Enterprise Development in Low-Income Countries — Major Research Grant Development Finance

The Private Enterprise Development in Low-Income Countries (PEDL) Program invites expressions of interest for Major Research Grant projects on the role of development finance in stimulating private sector development, as well as projects related to climate change and environmental compliance. Major Research Grants are grants of £100 thousand or more. There is no formal upper limit, but past MRGs have averaged around £300 thousand. These grants will fund research assistance, data collection and new surveys in Africa and South Asia. EOIs must be submitted by 15 November 2023. Link to Major Research Grants 

Marine Stewardship Council — Ocean Stewardship Fund

The Marine Stewardship Council invites fisheries, scientists, NGOs and postgraduates to apply for grants from the Ocean Stewardship Fund. The fund supports best practices in sustainable fishing with the aim to increase the number of sustainable fisheries around the world. Grants are also available to support small-scale fisheries and fisheries in the developing world. Furthermore, the Student Research Grant awards funding to support postgraduate students who are carrying out research with fisheries engaged or working towards the MSC program. Mozilla Technology Fund — AI and Environmental Justice

The Mozilla Technology Fund seeks to fund open source projects at the intersection of environmental justice and AI which are making a positive impact in ecosystems and human communities. Mozilla is interested in convening technical projects that have a firm grounding in environmental and climate justice, sustainability, and ecology. Applicants should have a product or working prototype. The Mozilla Technology Fund will provide awards of up to US$50 thousand and one year of mentorship. The application deadline is 05 October 2023. Earth Journalism Network — Media Grants to Investigate Environmental Crimes

The Earth Journalism Network (EJN) awards grants to media outlets in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda and South Sudan looking to investigate environmental crimes. The selected East African media houses will be expected to conceptualize, propose and lead the project in collaboration with a media outlet in Asia. International Development Research Centre — Innovative Veterinary Solutions for Antimicrobial Resistance

Innovative Veterinary Solutions for Antimicrobial Resistance supports research that will identify and develop prophylactic and therapeutic innovative veterinary solutions while reducing the use of antimicrobials in ruminants and aquaculture operations in low- and middle-income countries. These solutions should target the prevention and control of bacterial infectious diseases. A series of grants of up to CA$1.6 million will be issued. Applicants from academia, private and public sector organizations with strong research focus are eligible for this global call. Full proposals must be received no later than 30 October 2023. Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund — Biodiversity Conservation in Madagascar and the Indian Ocean Islands (Madagascar)

The Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund (CEPF) seeks to empower communities and civil society in Madagascar to implement actions to improve the resilience of species, ecosystems and human populations to climate changes. CEPF intends to make small grants of up to US$50 thousand in support of strengthening the capacity of local communities and civil society at regional and local levels to enhance adaptive capacity and reduce exposure to climate change risks, and supporting research and ensure the dissemination of results for the promotion and improvement of knowledge on ecosystem-based adaptation actions. F. M. Kirby Foundation — Social Impact Prize

F. M. Kirby Impact Prize is an annual global prize of US$150 thousand that amplifies and accelerates the work of enterprises working to scale their impact on social or environmental problems around the world. Applicants must have strong evidence of impact over at least 3 years and a plan for how to use the prize to scale that impact in the next 3-5 years. Standards and Trade Development Facility — International Sanitary and Phytosanitary Requirements

The Standards and Trade Development Facility (STDF) aims to increase the capacity of farmers, processors and traders in developing countries to implement international SPS standards to gain and maintain market access. The STDF seeks applications to improve its food safety, animal and plant health capacity. Grants are expected to help address particular challenges or issues that affect trade to international markets. Projects should have a maximum duration of three years, or less. The STDF offers grants of up to US$1 million for projects that promote compliance with international SPS requirements. Public and private sector entities as well as non-profit non-governmental organizations are eligible to apply. The deadlines to apply for funding in 2024 are 22 March and 09 August 2024. Details here
