United Nations Development Programme — Accelerated Blue Economy

The Ocean Innovation Challenge (OIC) seeks proposals that will stimulate socio-economic growth while restoring and conserving the coastal and marine ecosystems. The call invites approaches that create new and additional blue economy opportunities, such as innovations to improve fisheries and aquaculture management, ecotourism opportunities, or sustainable uses of marine resources empowering local coastal communities. Selected innovators will receive up to US$40 thousand to pilot their innovation within a period of maximum six months. Eligibility extends to entities in the least developed countries and/or small island developing states. The application deadline is 28 August 2023. Link

UK Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council — Standard Research Grant

BBSRC supports a range of activities from research projects to technology development, new infrastructure and equipment, use of equipment and facilities, networks, and summer schools. Case Studies include the themes of agriculture, sustainable energy and climate change. Applicants from industry and academia can request a maximum of £2 million per project. Projects must be based in the UK, however, where a suitable company cannot be found in the UK, an overseas partnership may be possible. Applications must be submitted by 27 September 2023. Global Water Partnership-Caribbean — Water and Wastewater Management

Global Water Partnership-Caribbean (GWP-C) supports the implementation of short-term, small-scale, innovative demonstration Integrated Water and Wastewater Management (IWWM) projects in the Caribbean. Each project for rural community-based interventions for wastewater management must have a total cost of no more than US$20 thousand with a duration no longer than six months. Interested organizations registered in the following countries: Jamaica, Barbados, Antigua and Barbuda, The Bahamas, Guyana, Grenada, Dominican Republic, Trinidad and Tobago, Saint Lucia, Belize, Suriname, St. Kitts and Nevis and Dominica are eligible to submit a concept note. U.S. National Fish and Wildlife Foundation — Seabird Conservation Program 2023

The U.S. National Fish and Wildlife Foundation (NFWF) invites applications to improve populations of focal Pacific seabirds through actions that increase survival and reproduction. Proposed projects may address the management of non-native, invasive animals; restoration of nesting grounds and habitat; research and monitoring activities to address conservation needs; or activities that reduce bycatch. Awards generally fall within a range of U$50 thousand to US$1 million. Eligibility is not restricted. The deadline for proposals is 23 August 2023. Seabird Conservation Program

Earth Company — Impact Hero 2024

Each year, Earth Company selects one Impact Hero that has the potential to transform the future of developing countries in the Asia-Pacific region. Impact Heroes are visionary leaders that tackle some of the most pressing social and environmental challenges and make transformative changes to the communities they serve. Earth Company provides 3 years of support through leadership coaching, fundraising, marketing and business development. Eligibility extends to everybody and all forms of organizations. United States Agency for International Development — Caribbean Marine Biodiversity Activity

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) seeks applications from qualified entities to implement the USAID Caribbean Marine Biodiversity Activity. The activity aims to reduce threats to coastal and marine biodiversity in priority areas in the Caribbean, while also realizing tangible improvements towards climate resilience and human well-being of local communities. USAID intends to provide US$20 million in total funding over 5 years. Eligibility is not restricted. The closing date for applications is 01 September 2023. Find details

Fondation Franklinia — Conservation of Globally Threatened Trees

The Foundation Franklinia accepts project proposals focused on in-situ conservation of threatened trees in Southeast Asia. Eligibility extends to any organization with well established expertise and efficiency in plant conservation. Projects must aim at improving the conservation status of globally threatened tree species listed on the IUCN Red List of threatened species. Funding from the Foundation favors conservation projects with reasonable budgets in relation to proposed activities. A minimum of 20-50% of co-funding will be required. Hystra — Wood Energy Sahel

Bois Énergie Sahel aims to increase the rate of equipment and use of Clean and Efficient Cooking in major urban centers in Niger, Mali and Burkina Faso. The program supports companies in distribution, marketing and the financing of clan cooking equipment and biofuels. The call is open to private for-profit companies and non-profit organizations. International Center for New Media — World Summit Awards 2023

Nominations are open for the World Summit Awards (WSA) and the WSA Young Innovators awards (young social entrepreneurs under 26 years of age). Start-ups and social entrepreneurs are asked to submit their local digital innovations with high social impact. The 8 award categories include one on Environment & Green Energy (climate, sustainable resources, agriculture). The winner does not receive a monetary award but does benefit from partnerships and integrations. Applications are accepted from companies, organizations or individuals. Deadline to apply for WSA and WSA Young Innovators is 13 October 2023. (Deadlines for national submission of applications for WSA may vary locally.) Find out more

U.S. Department of State — Climate Solutions and Sustainable Entrepreneurship

The U.S. Department of State announces an open competition for organizations to submit a statement of interest to carry out a program to expand the Department’s response to the climate crisis. The overall goal is to create local communities of entrepreneurs that are more market-savvy and better able to generate climate solutions. Awards range from US$50 thousand to US$260 thousand. Eligibility extends to U.S. and foreign non-profit organizations; institutions of higher education; and businesses. The closing date for applications is 14 July 2023. Link
