African Development Bank — Sustainable Energy Fund for Africa

The Sustainable Energy Fund for Africa (SEFA) provides catalytic finance to unlock private sector investments in renewable energy. SEFA offers technical assistance and concessional finance instruments. Funding requests must be aligned with three strategic priorities: (1) Green Baseload; (2) Green Mini-Grids; (3) Energy Efficiency. French Institute for Development Research — Climate Education in the Caribbean

The French Research Institute for Development (IRD) seeks to improve primary, secondary and higher education on geohazards and climate change in the Caribbean region. The grant recipient needs to develop teaching materials and tools for basic and higher levels education and be able to develop a regional database to facilitate the sharing among institutions in the Caribbean region. European Commission — Green Economy in Jordan

The European Commission (EC) seeks to contribute to the development of a green, environmentally sustainable and socially inclusive economy in Jordan. Funding is made available to projects that enhance coordination and sustainable resource management in the energy, water and agriculture sectors. Grant requested under this call for proposals must fall between €1.25 million and €2.5 million. Eligibility extends to businesses, academic institutions, and non-profit organizations. Women in Africa — Support for African Women Entrepreneurs

The JAMII Femmes initiative aims to increase the impact of African women entrepreneurs on the African economy and support the creation of innovative solutions for sustainable development. The program consists of a 4-month digital training phase, access to grants, an accelerator program and a special prize of US$10 thousand. European Development Fund — Energy Transition in Eswatini

The European Development Fund seeks to boost sustainable and inclusive development of the Eswatini key value chains via renewable energy and energy efficiency investments. The priorities of this call for proposals are preliminary studies to assess the potential of renewable energy, and outlining business cases of established sites. Startup SG — Global Startup Competition

Startup SG seeks global startups to compete in the Slingshot 2023 Global Startup Competition. Entries to the competition need to present game-changing innovation in one of four challenge categories, including Sustainability (e.g., Agriculture, Clean Energy, Food, or Green Technology). The Top 100 Global Startups will pitch to a global audience and compete for cash and grant prizes worth up to S$200 thousand. Interested participants have to register on the platform by 17 July 2023. Hello Tomorrow — Asia Pacific Challenge

The Hello Tomorrow Challenge gives deep-tech and science-based entrepreneurs a platform for their projects, providing opportunities and connections with key players. Hello Tomorrow seeks early-stage startups in Asia Pacific that use advanced technology to answer societal or industrial challenges. The challenge includes one category for startups that focus on energy, food, agriculture & environment, among 10 others. The grand prize is S$30 thousand for the best early-stage startup. Rainforest Journalism Fund — Global Audience Rainforest Journalism Fund

The Global Audience Rainforest Journalism Fund makes grants to journalists reporting for wide-reaching major news media outlets on tropical rainforests in any part of the world. The projects could focus on tropical forests’ role in the overall climate equation and weather patterns, and the consequences for human life and living conditions caused by deforestation. Most awards fall in the range of US$5 thousand to US$15 thousand, but depending on project specifics may be higher. Proposals are welcome on a rolling basis. Google — Environmental Journalism and Science Communication

The Sustainability Laboratory supports journalism and local content creators who work in the coverage of environmental issues and science communication. The program offers training to organizations and communication professionals in Brazil specialized in the coverage of environmental topics. The program will select 20 organizations from all regions of the country to participate in training and workshops. Eligibility extends to professional news organizations located in Brazil. AFR100 Initiative — Restoring African Landscapes

The AFR100 Initiative seeks to show that restoration can create a prosperous, net-zero-emissions future for Africa. Therefore, the initiative will finance 100 non-profit community organizations and for-profit businesses that are restoring land by planting and growing trees in rural and urban landscapes. Early-stage for-profit businesses or non-profit organizations can apply for US$50 thousand to US$150 thousand. Growth stage organizations can apply for US$250 thousand to US$500 thousand.
