The EnAccess Foundation invites proposals for open source innovations focusing on providing energy access with livelihood focus in Tanzania. The idea is to provide households, businesses, and institutions with access to electricity and reduce energy poverty. Each project may request a grant of up to US$ 150 thousand. Eligibility extends to start-ups, companies, non-profits, individual innovators, investors, and researchers. Organizations should have a minimum of 1-2 years of business operations. Netherlands Enterprise Agency — DHI Subsidy Scheme
The DHI scheme aims to increase and strengthen the number of Dutch companies operating successfully in emerging markets and developing countries. DHI focuses on SMEs in the Netherlands and the Caribbean part of the Kingdom with interest in foreign markets (especially developing and emerging economies). Dutch SMEs can request subsidies for feasibility studies (with a foreign partner), investment preparation projects, or demonstration projects of a technology, product or service in the target country. 100,000 Strong in the Americas — Higher Education for Sustainability in Mexico
The US-Mexico Innovation Fund Competition is designed to create and foster partnerships between higher education (HEIs) in Mexico and the United States that provide new student exchange and training programs in the academic themes of Green/Renewable Energy, Sustainable Agriculture, Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) and others. The European Commission (EC) seeks to increase energy access of households, public institutions and small enterprises to affordable, reliable and modern energy in Zambia. The EC invites big scale projects that focus on poor and vulnerable women in high density low income townships in Lusaka. Applicants may request a financial contribution of up to €1.9 million. Business Partnerships Platform — COVID-19 Recovery
The Australian Government calls for partnerships to help support COVID-19 recovery in Bangladesh, Nepal, Philippines, Timor-Leste and Tonga. The program seeks projects which create social impact in the following areas: green recovery (including tourism), economic opportunities (including agriculture, renewable energy), capacity building, and digitalisation. Selected projects will receive from A$100 thousand to A$500 thousand in funding to scale a business initiative for social impact. Enterprise Singapore (ESG) seeks applications for the Energy Open Innovation Challenge. Startups and small-and medium-sized enterprises are invited to submit innovative projects to improve the energy sector and provide solutions to the global energy industry. The UNITAR Social Entrepreneurship Training Program for Women aims to empower women with the knowledge and skills of entrepreneurship to address socio-economic challenges in Africa. The training will be delivered in English and consists of mentoring, pitching, planning, and outcome evaluation. This program is open for women, including members of small and medium enterprises, government agencies and academic institutions, from Ethiopia, Kenya, Somalia, and Sudan. Television for the Environment (tve) seeks entries for the Global Sustainability Awards (GSFA). The tve Global Sustainability Film Awards recognizes outstanding films that inspire audiences with real-world solutions for a more sustainable future. Films need to address a relevant sustainable development goal and cogently explain its importance or show a relevant solution. To be eligible for GSFA 2020 all entered films must be made between the period July 2018 and July 2020. The competition is open to any company, organization or individual in any country. SNV Netherlands invites solar and stove distributors to submit their expression of interest (EOI) for partnership towards promoting solar products and clean cooking solutions in Kenya. Proposed projects have to target refugee camps in order to promote stoves and small scale solar solutions for social institutions in the refugee set-up. Energy Generation — Africa Energy Generation Prize
The Africa Energy Generation Prize rewards young Africans who have an innovative project or idea in the energy, health, or agribusiness sector. Winners will have the chance to enroll in a free 2-year training program at one of three Energy Generation Business Schools and receive capacity development training which will allow them to transform their innovative idea into a viable startup. Applicants must prepare and submit two videos: a presentation video of the candidate (2 minutes) and a video presenting the innovative project (5 minutes).
