Earth Journalism Network — Reporting on the Mediterranean Sea (Tunisia)

The Earth Journalism Network (EJN) offers reporting grants to journalists in Tunisia to support the production of in-depth stories on the scale of unsustainable marine management and biodiversity loss in the Mediterranean Sea. EJN welcomes submissions that highlight the impact on coastal communities, including the loss of sustainable livelihoods, the hardships of small-scale fishers, the decline of valuable ecosystems, and the loss of natural and cultural heritage. The Networks expects to award up to 5 grants with an average budget of US$250 each. Eligibility extends to journalists based in Tunisia. The application deadline is 17 June 2022. United States Agency for International Development — Energy Transition

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) seeks applications for a cooperative agreement to implement the Just and Secure Energy Transition (J-SET) activity. J-SET supports utilities, regulatory agencies, and energy sector stakeholders in the Europe and Eurasia region in progressing through the clean energy transition. USAID intends to provide US$20 million in total funding over a five year period. USAID welcomes applications from non-profit as well as for-profit organizations. U.S. Mission Turkey — Grants Program

U.S. Mission Turkey announces a grants program to support projects in the fields of agribusiness, innovative agricultural technology/practices, combatting climate change, developing the blue economy, and promoting the role of women in peace and security, among others. Legally registered civil society organizations, non-profit organizations, universities and individuals operating in Turkey can apply. Grants range from US$5 thousand to US$75 thousand. Save Our Species — Threatened Species Grants Sturgeons

IUCN Save Our Species (SOS) aims to support on-the-ground conservation actions with the goal of improving the status of threatened sturgeon species and their habitats in the Black Sea basin. The goal is to enable and support conservation projects that can apply sustainable conservation measures to protect threatened sturgeon species, their habitats and to improve the livelihoods of the people who depend on them. Grants range from CHF50 thousand to CHF150 thousand. SOS requires matching resources in relation to grant size. Applications are open to non-profit local or national civil society organizations, international organizations and university/research institutions. European Commission — Consolidator Grants

The European Commission provides Consolidator Grants to experienced researchers with a scientific track record. ERC Grants support projects carried out by an individual researcher who can employ researchers of any nationality as team members. Applications can be made in any field of research. Proposed research projects under this program must be conducted in a public or private research organization located in one of the EU Member States or Associated Countries. Consolidator Grants may be awarded up to €2 million for a period of 5 years. The deadline for applications is 17 March 2022. Link

Latvian State Education Development Agency — Scholarships 2022/2023

The Latvian State Education Development Agency offers scholarships to foreign students, researchers and teaching staff for studies, research and participation in summer schools in Latvian higher education institutions (HEIs) for the academic year 2022/2023. Study programs include Agriculture, Environmental Science, Forestry, Energy, among others. The scholarship amount varies from €500 to €670 per month, depending on the program. Trust for Mutual Understanding — U.S. Environmental Collaboration with Partners in Europe, the Baltic States, Central Asia, Mongolia, and Russia

The Trust for Mutual Understanding (TMU) makes grants to nonprofit organizations in the USA for environmental projects in collaboration with partners in the following countries:  Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Estonia, Georgia, Hungary, Kazakhstan, Kosovo, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Macedonia, Moldova, Mongolia, Montenegro, Poland, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, and Uzbekistan. TMU supports professional exchanges and capacity building, together with jointly managed research and field projects. To be able to submit a full proposal, applicants must submit an initial inquiry. Netherlands Organization for International Cooperation in Higher Education — Future Matters Scholarship

The NN Future Matters scholarship and coaching program supports professional development by offering young people who need support access to mentorship and coaching throughout their studies. The scholarship consists of €5 thousand and a mentorship. Students have to be enrolled at a full-time program in the field of finance, risk management, economics, data science, entrepreneurship or IT at one of nine participating Dutch research universities. Only students from Belgium, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Greece, Hungary, Japan, the Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Spain or Turkey are eligible. The application deadline is 01 April 2022. Village Capital — SME Accelerator

Village Capital seeks small and medium-sized enterprises and startups that are scaling market-based and contextualized solutions to critical climate adaptation and resilience challenges. Participants from Africa and Asia will have access to a one-week intensive virtual training program. Eligibility extends to companies developing or offering products and/or services (ideally technology-enabled) that increase the resilience of target users to the impacts of climate change. World Academy of Sciences — PhD Fellowship Program for Displaced and Refugee Scientists

UNESCO-TWAS offers an exile fellowship program for displaced and refugee scholars and scientists. The program aims to provide scholars and scientists from Afghanistan, Syria or Yemen who have not yet found a safe and long-term host country to pursue doctoral studies in Pakistan, at institutions members of the COMSTECH Consortium of Excellence (CCoE).
