The InsuResilience Solutions Fund (ISF) seeks projects with a holistic approach on disaster relief and preparedness. The Fund will support the development of new climate risk insurance products or the scaling-up of already existing products with the aim to increase the resilience of poor and vulnerable people in developing countries to climate change. ISF provides grant-based co-funding of up to €2.5 million, but requires matching the grant funding (in-kind and/or as a financial contribution). King Baudouin Foundation — Enterprises for SDGs
The Business Partnership Facility (BPF) awards subsidies to support and develop private sector involvement in Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in developing countries. Projects submitted under this call must contribute to achieving at least one clearly identified SDG. The BPF provides non-refundable grants between €50 thousand and €200 thousand that represent a maximum 50% of the total investment. Eligible countries include several from Asia, Latin America, the Middle East and North Africa, and Sub-Saharan Africa (full list of eligible countries is provided in the call). Partnerships must comprise actors from the private sector, civil society, academia and/or the public sector, with at least one organization from the for-profit private sector. Yale University — Yale Young African Scholars 2023
Yale Young African Scholars (YYAS) offers an academic summer program for secondary school students from across Africa. The program offers online and in-person programs in four interdisciplinary sessions on Innovations in Science & Technology and Solving Global Challenges. Admitted participants will have access to pre-recorded videos before the start of the program and attend live sessions. There is no tuition cost to participate in the program. Trust for Sustainable Living — Schools Sustainability Challenge
The Trust for Sustainable Living (TSL) Schools Sustainability Challenge is a video contest for schools around the world. Schools are invited to create a short video (max. 1 minute) showcasing their best messages on ‘My Local Sustainability Challenges’. Schools have to register a Teacher Champion to participate. ONE International — ONE Africa Award
The ONE Africa Award honors the exceptional work of individuals and organizations based in Africa to help Africa achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The amount of the award is US$100 thousand, which may be split into more than one prize. Eligibility for the award extends to civil society organizations, non-governmental organizations, and other groups based in Africa that can demonstrate commitment and success in advocacy to promote the attainment of one or more of the SDGs. Commonwealth Secretariat — Commonwealth Youth Awards 2023
The Commonwealth Youth Awards for Excellence in Development Work recognize individuals ages 15 to 29 who lead innovative development projects in themes that include agriculture, small enterprise, skills training, climate change, environmental protection, sustainable livelihoods, and poverty reduction. The program selects regional winners from each of Africa, Asia, the Caribbean, and the Pacific. Winners are awarded grants of up to a total of £5 thousand in total to advance their projects. Alexander von Humboldt Foundation — Georg Forster Research Award
The Georg Forster Research Award supports the work of accomplished researchers who are expected to continue to develop research-based solutions to specific challenges facing transition and developing countries. Nominees must be nationals of a developing or transition country, excluding the People’s Republic of China and India. The award amount is €60 thousand. Additionally, award winners are invited to conduct a research project of their own choosing in Germany in close collaboration with a specialist colleague. To support the collaboration, the Foundation may grant additional funding of up to €25 thousand. Aspire Coronation Trust Foundation — Development Grants for Africa
The Aspire Coronation Trust (ACT) Foundation makes grants to local, national and regional organizations working to address challenges across the African continent. The Changemakers Innovation Challenge is open to non-profits and social enterprises who are using various technological tools to create innovative social solutions. Organizations must submit social solutions within the key focus areas: Health, Entrepreneurship, Environment or Leadership. Three winners will split the award of ₦15 million. Embassy of France in New Zealand — Pacific Fund 2022
The Embassy of France in New Zealand seeks projects that contribute to economic, social, cultural and scientific cooperation with New Caledonia, French Polynesia, Wallis and Futuna. Projects must fall under at least one of the following categories: fight against climate change and risk management for natural disasters; economic and industrial projects (feasibility study, training actions, etc.); food security (e.g., fishery management, etc.). Projects must be jointly financed for at least 50% of the total project budget. Projects have to be submitted by a New Zealand partner and must involve at least one local project partner. TED — Fellows Program for Extraordinary Thinkers and Doers
The TED Fellows Program provides transformational support to an international community of visionaries who collaborate across disciplines (many within the thematic fields of the Terra Viva Grants Directory) to create positive change around the world. TED Fellows are chosen based on remarkable achievement, character, and their innovative approach to solving the world’s tough problems. Selected fellows participate in professional training and mentoring with public relations experts, and attend regional meet-ups and retreats for conservation and exchange of ideas.
