11th Hour Racing — Improving the Health of our Oceans

11th Hour Racing is committed to mobilizing the sailing and marine communities to improve the health of our oceans. For that reason, 11th Hour Racing seeks innovative projects that address dynamic environmental challenges in one or more of the program’s focus areas: reduce ocean pollution, advance clean technologies and best practices, and foster ocean stewardship. Applications from non-profit organizations from all around the world are welcome. Typical grants range from US$40 thousand to US$150 thousand, with an average grant size of $75 thousand. World Academy of Sciences — Research Cooperation Visits Program

TWAS-SISSA-Lincei invites young scientists from least developed countries to carry out collaborative research projects in Physics, Neuroscience, Mathematics, Science Outreach as well as projects that fall under the umbrella of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Scientists have the opportunity to visit research laboratories in Trieste (Italy) to carry out research work in scientific fields within the SISSA portfolio. Acumen Fund — India Fellows Program 2024

The Acumen Fund promotes the power of social innovation to create solutions to the world’s most pressing problems. The India Fellows Program is designed to equip local leaders with the tools, mindset, and community to tackle poverty and injustice in their communities. Past fellows have included several in smallholder agriculture, renewable energy, waste management, fair trade, and other areas. The fellowship is a mix of offline and online seminars, involving a time commitment of approximately 30 days in the year. The application deadline is 10 November 2023. India Fellows

United People Global — Leadership Training Program

The United People Global (UPG) Sustainability Leadership training program offers young leaders from all over the world the opportunity to participate in an immersive 1-week experience on an island in the USA. UPG seeks young people (18-35 years) who want to take positive action that helps the world tackle a sustainability challenge to achieve any of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). 500 young leaders will be selected to participate in an online program and receive a certification after successful completion of the online training. 60 participants will have the chance to attend the complimentary 1-week training in the USA (all costs of the program will be covered). Green Alley — Green Alley Award 2023

The Green Alley Award is an annual European prize for start-ups and entrepreneurs in the green economy. The award program focuses on business ideas that help build a circular economy and improve the waste and recycling industry. The contest finalists will be invited to Berlin to compete for a cash prize of €25 thousand, working space in Berlin for six months, and opportunities to raise additional funding. The submitted ideas must be relevant for Europe and focus on reducing, reusing, recycling, or transforming waste. The application deadline is 20 November 2023. Green Alley Award 

iF International Forum Design GmbH — Student Design Award

The iF Student Design Award recognizes students and their future-oriented concepts that aim to solve a global development challenge. The best concepts earn a share of €50 thousand. All winners will be honored with a two-day event in Istanbul. Students and recent graduates of all design-related courses and programs are welcome to register their concepts. Yale University — Young Global Scholars Program

Yale Young Global Scholars (YYGS) offers two-week academic summer programs for high school students from all around the world. The program offers four interdisciplinary sessions on campus at Yale (USA), including sessions on Innovations in Science & Technology and Solving Global Challenges. YYGS offers the opportunity for students to apply for need-based financial aid. Furthermore, YYGS will waive the application fee if it constitutes a significant financial burden for the student’s family. The application deadline is 04 January 2024. Acumen Fund — Regional Fellows in Malaysia

The Acumen Fund seeks to harness the power of social innovation to create solutions to the world’s most pressing problems. The Fund administers regional programs in different world regions. In each region, 20 fellows are selected for a leadership development program of five one-week seminars while remaining in their jobs. Acumen covers all program expenses related to travel and accommodations, but it does not offer scholarships, stipends, or other funding. Past fellows have included several in smallholder agriculture, renewable energy, waste management, fair trade, and other subject areas. SEED — Replicator Workshop for Eco-Enterprises in Uganda

The SEED Replicator program offers incubation workshops to identify opportunities for enterprise creation and to guide aspiring entrepreneurs and business owners looking for partnerships to build an eco-inclusive business model. Successful alumni can apply for a SEED Grant which pays for your immediate necessary activities, measures or machinery required to establish the new enterprise. SEED Replicator Program currently invites applications from entrepreneurs in Uganda. Participation is free, although participants need to cover their transportation costs and accommodation. United States Agency for International Development — Oceans Plastics

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) seeks applications for a cooperative agreement from qualified entities to implement the “Oceans Plastics – Solid Waste Management Activity.” The activity’s goal is to reduce waste in municipalities leading to cleaner oceans in the Dominican Republic. USAID intends to provide US$15 million in total funding over a five year period. Eligibility is not restricted. The closing date for applications is 18 September 2023. Link
