Government of India — India-Egypt Bilateral Cooperation

The Government of India invites research projects to apply to the Call for Joint Proposals, with the aim of encouraging scientific and technological co-operation between Egypt and India. Priority research areas include biotechnology, energy applications, among others. Financial support for international air fares, accommodation and Rs2,500 per diem for expenses, and also minor support for research related expenses like contingency and consumables can be provided. Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund — Biodiversity Conservation across Multi-Hotspots

The CEPF invites applications for biodiversity conservation among two or more biodiversity hotspots. Proposed projects must address multiple hotspots, including at least one of the following: Cerrado, Eastern Afromontane and Indo-Burma. Grants under this call will range from US$ 20 thousand to US$100 thousand. Eligibility for funding extends to community groups and associations, NGOs, private enterprises, universities, research institutes, and other civil society organizations. Rothamsted International — RI-UON Fellowships

Rothamsted International and the University of Nottingham Future Food Beacon offer fellowships to promote the exchange of agricultural research.The fellowships aim to support international scientists from low- to middle-income countries. Interested Candidates must find a supervisor who the co-develops a research project with the candidate. Selected candidates will receive supervision, training, and funds for subsistence, travel and accommodation for a period of 6-12 months. The next deadline for applications is 22 February 2019. Link

Fulbright Scholar Program — Postdoctoral Awards for U.S. Scholars 2020-2021

The Fulbright Postdoctoral Scholar Awards are open to U.S. scholars who have recently completed their doctoral degrees or other terminal degrees. The selected individuals engage in research, teaching, and mentoring at their host institutions — including institutions in developing countries. Disciplinary areas include agriculture, environmental sciences, and many others. Project periods are from three to 12 months. The application deadline is 16 September 2019. PostDoc

African Academy of Sciences — Climate Research for Development in Africa

The African Academy of Sciences (AAS), the UK Department for International Development (DFID) Weather and Climate information SERvices for Africa (WISER) and the Africa Climate Policy Centre (ACPC) announce an initiative to support Africa-led climate science research through the Climate Research for Development (CR4D) in Africa initiative. CR4D will award 1-year research grants to 15 African climate researchers of up to US$130 thousand. Candidates must be hosted by or affiliated with a university, research institute or other eligible institution of higher education in Africa and hold a PhD in climate or related sciences. Czech Academy of Sciences — Studentship in Tropical Ecology

The Ecology Department at the Biology Center of the Czech Academy of Science and the Zoology Department of the University of South Bohemia invite PhD applicants to join a project exploring plant-herbivore interactions in the lowland rainforest in Papua New Guinea. The selected candidate will live in Czech Republic, conduct field work in New Guinea, and carry out the chemistry analysis with collaborators in Germany, Finland and the US.  Applicants from any nationality are eligible. The European Commission seeks project proposals that develop environmentally friendly and sustainable solutions for managing the waste of plastics mixtures based on the use of communities of microorganisms. The aim of this call is to develop of new biotechnologies for the global challenge of environmental protection and improve the quality and quantity of products in a wide variety of sectors (wellbeing, environment, food, etc.). ZHAW Zurich University of Applied Sciences — Mobility Grants with South Asia and Iran 2019

Mobility grants encourage early-career Swiss researchers who seek the possibility to gain experience in international research and development projects in Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Iran, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan or Sri Lanka. Applicants from South Asia or Iran who wish to visit Switzerland for research purposes need to be scientists with a government accredited university or public research institute. For applicants from South Asia or Iran the fund may cover living allowances, public transport within Switzerland and a contribution towards research and local conference costs (up to CHF 2,500 per month during maximum 3 months). Funds will be disburses to the Swiss sending and/or host institute only, therefore international applicants should seek a partnership with ZHAW. European Commission — Ship Emission Control Scenarios

The European Commission seeks project proposals to better understand the comprehensive environmental impacts from the wide scale adoption of a range of potential emission reduction solutions together with any secondary effects on the on the marine environment. The aim of this call is to identify emission reduction scenarios and activities that will provide comprehensive information concerning the predicted dispersion of discharges from shipping and any long term environmental impact. Proposals may requests a contribution of up to €8 million.
