WIN WIN Gothenburg Sustainability Award invites nominations to recognize persons or organizations that effectively have taken on the challenge to fight disinformation (e.g., disinformation about climate change etc.), thereby facilitating the work to reach the UN Sustainable Goals 2030. The nominees will have created change that inspires others and shown what measures are necessary. Candidates for the WIN WIN Award compete for SEK 1 million. BirdsCaribbean — Research and Conservation of Caribbean Birds
BirdsCaribbean invites applications for its grants programs. The James A. Kushlan Research and Conservation Fund provides support on an annual basis for biological, ecological and conservation research on waterbirds in the Caribbean region. The Betty Petersen Conservation Fund seeks to advance the conservation status of birds and habitats in the Caribbean region through projects that engage and empower communities and stakeholders to protect and benefit sustainably from their birds. David S. Lee Fund for the Conservation of Caribbean Birds supports applied and innovative projects with direct conservation effects on Caribbean birds and/or their habitats. Awards range from US$2,500 to US$5,000. Grants will be awarded to anyone (individuals or organizations). Applicants from the Caribbean will be given consideration over other nationalities. Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund — Biodiversity Conservation in the Caribbean Islands
The Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund (CEPF) makes small and large grants in support of biodiversity conservation in the Caribbean “Caribbean Islands Biodiversity Hotspot.” Grants are in support of community-based sustainable small-scale fisheries, protection and conservation of endangered marine species, marine protected areas management, and activities that promote improved marine and coastal ecosystems. Small grants are between US$5 thousand and US$50 thousand; large grants are greater than US$50 thousand. HawkWatch International — Global Raptor Research & Conservation Grant
The Global Raptor Research & Conservation Grant invests in projects led by citizens of developing countries with the aim of increasing diversity and inclusivity in conservation while building local capacity. Projects must be located in high-priority countries for raptor research and conservation (mainly Latin America, Sub-Saharan Africa, or Southeast Asia), focus on a single species of raptor, and be led by an applicant who is associated with a registered NGO and/or university in the country where the project will take place. The Hult Prize is a start-up accelerator for social entrepreneurship which brings together college and university students to solve the world’s most pressing issues. In 2024, participants can pitch any idea for a social enterprise, as long as it is world-changing and aligned with at least one of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).. The Hult Prize runs regional competitions around the world, campus events, a national competition, and online for the chance to join the Global Accelerator Program. Government of Switzerland — Renewable Energy Promotion in Developing Countries
The independent platform Renewable Energy, Energy and Resource Efficiency Promotion in Developing and Transition Countries (REPIC) supports projects in the field of renewable energies and/or energy efficiency and/or resource efficiency (waste, wastewater and industrial processes). The project applicant has to be a Swiss organization (companies, NGOs, institutes, etc.) but the project target country must be a developing country. Oxford University — Grants for Collaborative Research with African Research Institutions
The AfOx Catalyst Grants provide seed funding to support the development of collaborative research between researchers based in African research institutions and at the University of Oxford. Travel grants enable researchers to meet in either an African institution or Oxford. Starter Grants fund activities which aim to develop sustainable partnerships and strengthening applications for longer-term fellowships and funding. The maximum grant amount is £5000. Chicago Zoo — Endangered Species Fund
The Chicago Zoological Society administers conservation grants funded by the Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT). The Fund’s priority is to support projects that assist directly in the protection of populations of threatened and endangered species; or that protect a specific habitat that is of high biological value or that is substantially threatened (IUCN Red List Status). National Fish and Wildlife Foundation — Atlantic Flyway Shorebirds 2024
The National Fish and Wildlife Foundation (NFWF) and partners support the conservation of migratory waterbirds and their habitats through strategic investments to secure populations of three species – American oystercatcher (short distance migrant), whimbrel (mid-distance migrant) and threatened red knot (long distance migrant). The program focuses on priority shorebird sites along the U.S. Atlantic seaboard (including the Florida gulf coast and panhandle) as well as priority wintering sites for each of the focal species in the Caribbean and South America. The award size is not specified, but the majority of awards will fall in the US$75 thousand to US$250 thousand range. European Landowners’ Organization — Land and Soil Management Award
The Land and Soil Management Award rewards land use and soil management practices mitigating soil threats i.e. soil degradation, erosion, reduction of organic matter content, diffuse contamination, and compaction as well as the reduction of soil biodiversity, salinization, sealing, flooding and landslides. The winning project receives €5 thousand. Eligibility extends to farmers, landowners, groups of farmers, on their own or in collaboration with research institutes, universities and/or private companies.
