World Academy of Sciences — Prizes for Young Scientists in Developing Countries

TWAS provides financial assistance to national institutions in several developing countries to enable them to institute a scheme of TWAS prizes for young scientists. Candidates for the prizes should be no older than age 40 at the time of winning the prize; hold at least a master’s degree; have a good record of research publications in internationally recognized journals; and be living and working in the country of the awarding organization. Nominations of women scientists are particularly encouraged. The participating countries are: Bangladesh,Bolivia, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Guatemala, Iran, Jordan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Nepal, Pakistan, Panama, Peru, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Syria, Thailand,Trinidad and Tobago, Turkey, Uzbekistan, Venezuela, and Vietnam The amount of the prize is US$2 thousand.
