Wageningen University — Course in Landscape Governance
The Wageningen UR Centre for Development Innovation, in partnership with CIFOR and ICRAF, invites participants for an international course on landscape governance. The focus is institutional development at the landscape level — including multi-stakeholder platforms and networks, and financial support mechanisms. The course is open to experienced professionals with several years of experience in natural resources management, forestry, agriculture, rural development, rural livelihoods, sustainable development, or other relevant areas. The course will be held in English on the CIFOR-ICRAF campus in Bogor (Indonesia), April 2017. Global Alliance for Clean Cookstoves — Gender-Based Violence Related to Choice of Cooking Fuel
The Global Alliance for Clean Cookstoves will allocate up to US$200 thousand to support one study over a 12-month period on the role of fuel choice as a factor in gender-based violence in humanitarian settings. Are women and girls abused when they search for fuelwood? Preference will be given to proposals seeking to conduct research in Rwandan refugee camps. Scottish Government — International Development Small Grants 2017
The Scottish Government’s International Development Small Grants Programme provides project funding in support of the government’s International Development Policy. Applications for grants are invited from incorporated not-for-profit organisations which have a presence in Scotland and an annual turnover of less than £150 thousand. The priority countries are: Bangladesh, India (states of Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, and Orissa), Malawi, Pakistan, Rwanda, Tanzania, and Zambia. Awards are a maximum of £60 thousand for project grants over three years, or a maximum of £10 thousand for feasibility and capacity building grants over one year. U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service — Conservation in Central America 2017
The USFWS “Wildlife Without Borders” includes a regional program for Central America. The program seeks to conserve priority species and ecosystems across landscapes that have high value for biodiversity in the Mesoamerican Biological Corridor, while simultaneously benefiting local communities. The announcement identifies the geographic and thematic priorities. Applications can be accepted from both U.S. and non-U.S. organizations. The deadline for applications is 16 December 2016. Link
World Wide Fund For Nature (WWF) — Prince Bernhard Scholarships for Nature Conservation 2017
WWF supports professional training and formal studies of individuals working in disciplines directly relevant to nature conservation. Eligibility extends to mid-career nationals from Africa; Asia and Pacific; Latin America and Caribbean; Eastern Europe; and the Middle East. Royal Agricultural College — Land and Food Fellowships for Africans 2017
The UK’s Royal Agricultural College (RAC) offers fellowships to African students enrolled in its masters programs in subjects of rural development, sustainable agriculture and food security, business management, and international food and agri-business. The RAC seeks applicants who have experience in agriculture and related subjects; an interest in land reform; and a desire to make a strategic and sustainable contribution to Africa’s development. American Ornithologists Union — Research Grants in Ornithology 2017
The AOU makes grants up to US$2,500 in several areas of ornithological research. Applicants are university and post-doctoral students who are members of the AOU, and individuals without access to funds from major granting agencies. The Wetmore Memorial Fund supports research in avian systematics, paleo-ornithology, biogeography, and especially neotropical biology — and it encourages Latin American students to apply.
