American Society for Microbiology (ASM), in partnership with the Indo-US Science & Technology Forum (IUSSTF), announces the ASM-IUSSTF Indo-US Professorship in Microbiology. This program seeks to broaden scientific collaboration between India and the United States though travel grants that support research and teaching partnerships. A grant up to US$5 thousand is provided to cover travel costs, visa and contingencies. Funds must be matched by the host institution (note: matching grants may be in-kind contributions). Climate Justice Resilience Fund — Grants for Climate Change Adaptation
The Climate Justice Resilience Fund seeks grants applications for community-led, social justice approaches to climate change adaptation and resilience-building. Grants are made to women, youth, and indigenous peoples to create and share their own solutions for resilience. CJRF grants focus on four interrelated issues connected which climate change: (1) Water Access; (2) Food Security; (3) Sustainable Livelihoods; and (4) Migration and Relocation. The CJRF grantmaking strategic framework prioritizes multi-year grants and grants larger than US$100 thousand. Non-profit organizations from Alaska, Kenya, Tanzania, Bangladesh, and the India are invited to apply. Association of Field Ornithologists — Bergstrom Grants for Avian Research in the Americas
The Association of Field Ornithologists (AFO) is dedicated to the scientific study and dissemination of information about birds in their natural habitats. The Alexander Bergstrom Memorial Research Awards support avian research in the U.S./Canada and Latin America. Grants are up to US$1,500. Applicants and/or their primary research supervisors must be members of the AFO. Application deadlines are 15 January for USA/Canada, and 15 July for Latin America. See the grant opportunity
TWIGA — Hackathon for Environmental Sensors
TWIGA is a 4-year project under EU Horizon2020 aimed to transform weather water data into value-added information services. To foster involvement by young scientists and entrepreneurs, TWIGA will organize five hackathons to develop solutions for the agriculture, water, energy, disaster response and risk management sector. The first call is open to teams from Ghana. Similar hackathons will be organized in other parts of Africa later. The 1st, 2nd and 3rd place will receive €1500, €1000, and €500. Go. Go Love Foundation — Funding for Community Projects
The Go. Go Love Foundation seeks applications from local charities and non-profit organizations that work with local communities. Thematic areas include WASH, resilience building to climate change, disaster/risk reduction, and others. Applicants may request funding of up to AUD30 thousand over a 1-2 year project period. The current round of funding targets small to medium non-profit organisations working in developing countries in Asia (South-East, South and/or Central), Africa or Central America. Research Council of Norway — Arctic Field Research
The Svalbard Science Forum (SSF) promotes research activities in Svalbard and administrates funding programs to stimulate data collection and inter-disciplinary as well as international cooperation. Students and researchers can apply for arctic field grants and seed money for workshops and collaborative activities. Both Norwegian and foreign students and scientists are eligible to apply, the latter only if the project is done in close cooperation with a Norwegian institution. The deadline is 10 October 2018. Euromena Consulting — Awards for MENA Start-ups
Euromena Consulting launches the Euromena Awards – MENA Edition. The awards are intended for companies or innovative projects with social, economic, environmental and/or societal impact. Proposed projects should be related to MENA and/or be established in the region. Indo-U.S. Science and Technology Forum — Water Advanced Research and Innovation Fellowships
The Water Advanced Research and Innovation Fellowships fund Indian participants to gain exposure and access to research facilities in water resources at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and the Daugherty Water for Food Institute. Fellowships of three to twelve months are for Indian scientists holding a PhD in water science and engineering. Internships of three to six months are for individuals currently engaged in their PhD studies in water sciences in India. The application deadline is 10 November 2018. Link
UK Government — Transforming Energy Access in Sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia
The UK Government invests up to £10 million in technologies that will help countries in Sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia access secure, low cost and low carbon energy. (Note: £3 million of the funding is set aside for bioenergy projects.) International applicants must apply as part of a collaboration with a UK organisation. Oriental Bird Club — Bird Conservation in Asia
The OBC Conservation Fund makes grants for bird conservation in Asia. Grant-making priorities are projects that benefit globally threatened bird species; that conserve threatened bird habitats; and that are led by Asian residents. Small Conservation Awards are up to £1,500 for projects of 12-18 months, with applications before 31 March of each year. There is a special early deadline on 15 November for projects that have to begin before July. The OBC also considers special and emergency applications at any time. How to apply
