Conservation International — Indigenous and Traditional Peoples Conservation Fellowship 2019-2020

Conservation International (CI) offers the Indigenous Leaders Conservation Fellowship to leaders from indigenous and traditional peoples. For the 2019-2020 fellowship year, the Indigenous Leaders Conservation Fellowship will support two distinct fellowship tracks: the Indigenous Women’s Fellowship and the Emerging Leaders Fellowship. Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition — Nigeria Egg Evaluation for Better Nutrition

GAIN will implement an experiment to evaluate how a demand creation approach which changes the desirability of a food can be applied to improve the quality of diets in low-income households. For that reason, GAIN seeks a research partner to co-design and independently conduct an impact evaluation over 2 years. International Center for Journalists — Eurasia Media Innovation Challenge

The Eurasia Media Innovation Challenge supports projects that produce and distribute high-quality content to combat biased or false information. This includes stories and initiatives about global health or climate change. The program offers grants of between US$5 thousand and US$100 thousand to applicants proposing innovative projects to provide information to Russian-speaking populations in Eurasia. Wageningen University — Climate Smart Agriculture in East Africa

The Climate Smart Agriculture, East Africa (CSA-EA) program offers opportunities for the placement of two PhD students to be enrolled in one of the graduate schools of Wageningen University. The selected PhD students are expected to spend about 18 months in Wageningen (Netherlands) and 30 months in East Africa (Kenya, Tanzania, and/or Uganda). The scholarship offers €1400/month during the stay in the Netherlands and €700/month during the stay in East Africa. Applicants must be nationals from Kenya, Uganda or Tanzania. U. S. Agency for International Development — Water for Southern Africa

USAID invites concept papers to implement activities with focus on transforming how people relate to, manage and benefit from water. Annual Program Statement (APS) supports the water sector for the Southern Africa region: Angola, Botswana, Lesotho, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Swaziland and Zambia. USAID intends to provide up to US$2 million to fund all awards made under this APS. Eligibility extends to U.S. and foreign non-profit organizations, businesses, universities, and individuals. African Academy of Sciences — Access to Water and Sanitation

The African Academy of Sciences (The AAS), and partners, announce new funding for technology-based solutions to improve access to water and sanitation. Up to US$100 thousand will be given to projects for two years for technologies that improve access to clean drinking water, household sanitation and hygiene, and address urban pollution. The call is open to organizations. Applicants located in Africa should apply through The AAS while those in the rest of the world should apply through the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. Eleanor Crook Foundation — Research on Improved Nutrition

The Eleanor Crook Foundation funds implementation research on cost-effective, scalable innovations designed to improve nutrition interventions in East Africa. Each grant will consist of a maximum award of US$1.35 million for an implementation research project of up to three and a half years duration. Proposals should focus on one or more of the following East African countries: Uganda, Tanzania, Kenya, Rwanda, Ethiopia, South Sudan, Sudan and Somalia. European Commission — Fighting Climate Change in Malawi

The European Commission supports local civil society organisations in Malawi tackling climate change and mitigating its adverse effects. Focus areas of this call are (Lot 1) poverty alleviation through mitigating the impacts of climate change on the lives of community members, and (Lot 2) sustainable management of waste to enable the transition to a climate-resilient, low emissions economy. World Bank — Support for Women Micro-Entrepreneurs

The World Bank Group invites applications for the “Sustainable Development Goals and Her Competition”. SDGs & Her is an online competition for women micro-entrepreneurs to showcase how they are supporting the SDGs through their business operations. Winners will receive leadership training, mentoring and will be flown to Washington DC, for an event at the World Bank Group-IMF Spring Meetings (April 2019). The Africa Energy Indaba Exhibition (Johannesburg, February 2019) focuses on energy projects on the continent, rural energy solutions, urbanization and energy needs and the renewable & sustainable energy industry. Africa Energy Indaba seeks solutions to energy problems in Africa and invites projects in the areas of energy security, environmental sustainability, and affordable energy to apply for the African Youth Energy Innovator Showcase 2019. The contest is open to 18 to 35 year old individuals from across Africa.
