European Commission (Horizon 2020) — Food Systems Africa

The European Commission, under Horizon 2020, launches a call for proposals to fight nutritional imbalances in Africa. Proposals should assess and deliver better nutrition performance of African farming systems, strengthening the agro-biodiversity (including aquaculture systems) and food diversity. The Commission will consider multi-actor approaches including civil society organizations requesting a contribution of EUR 7 million. The application deadline is 23 January 2019. European Commission (Horizon 2020) — Sustainable Food Security 2019

The Horizon 2020 program of research and innovation includes topics that are suitable for international cooperation. This includes cooperation in several projects of sustainable food security (SFS). Topic SFS-01-2018-2019-2020 will explore biodiversity in action: across farmland and the value chain, Topic SFS-04-2019-2020 will focus on integrated health approaches and alternatives to pesticide use, Topic SFS-05-2018-2019-2020 will explore new and emerging risks to plant health, Topic SFS-08-2018-2019 seeks to improve animal welfare, and Topic SFS-11-2018-2019 will focus on anti-microbials and animal production, among many others. Agropolis Fondation — PhD Fellowships for Agriculture and Sustainable Development

The Agropolis Fondation and partners aim to create and strengthen a dynamic exchange between research and higher education institutions in France and Southeast Asia in the area of agriculture and sustainable development. Therefore, the Foundation will provide 8 PhD Fellowships to Southeast Asian students enrolled in universities in Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, and Indonesia (note: participating universities are mentioned in the call for proposals). The Fellowship will cover university tuition, a monthly allowance, travel, some research costs and thesis support. Research proposals have to be submitted by 07 February 2019. Find details
