The Innovate Green Competition (IGC) is a cooperative initiative that aims to stimulate entrepreneurship within university students in the MENA region. Individuals or groups of up to 3 university students with innovative solutions addressing environmental challenges are invited to apply to the competition. One member from each of the top three finalists will be invited to the 4th UN Environment Assembly (UNEA-4) in Nairobi (March 2019). The winners receive cash prizes of up to US$10 thousand. African Academy of Sciences — Climate Research for Development in Africa
The African Academy of Sciences (AAS), the UK Department for International Development (DFID) Weather and Climate information SERvices for Africa (WISER) and the Africa Climate Policy Centre (ACPC) announce an initiative to support Africa-led climate science research through the Climate Research for Development (CR4D) in Africa initiative. CR4D will award 1-year research grants to 15 African climate researchers of up to US$130 thousand. Czech Academy of Sciences — Studentship in Tropical Ecology
The Ecology Department at the Biology Center of the Czech Academy of Science and the Zoology Department of the University of South Bohemia invite PhD applicants to join a project exploring plant-herbivore interactions in the lowland rainforest in Papua New Guinea. The selected candidate will live in Czech Republic, conduct field work in New Guinea, and carry out the chemistry analysis with collaborators in Germany, Finland and the US. Earth Journalism Network — Media Workshop on Climate Change Reporting
Internews Earth Journalism Network (EJN) seeks applications from journalists to take part in a media workshop on climate change reporting in the Bay of Bengal. The workshop will focus on climate change in the region, with a focus on how at-risk communities are responding to environmental pressures. EJN will pay for travel, accommodation and meal costs of selected participants. Journalists from print, web, radio and television are eligible. Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations — FAO Conference Awards 2019
The FAO makes awards to individuals, institutions, and organizations for outstanding achievements in fighting hunger. For 2019, FAO will present four awards and one medal. Award are made in a particular field, including FAO funded projects, global food security, sustainable agricultural and rural development, responsible fisheries, among others. European Union — Danube Transnational Programme
The EU’s Danube Transnational Programme offers financial support to transnational projects contributing to the development of the Danube region. The Programme covers 9 EU member states and 5 non-member states (Bosnia and Herzegovina, Republic of Moldova, Montenegro, Serbia and Ukraine). Themes include water management, flood prevention, natural heritage, energy, among others. The duration of projects must not exceed 30 months with available funds varying according to priority area. The lead applicant must be an international or private non-profit organizations. Project partners can be private enterprises. Project partners must co-finance a minimum of 15% of total project costs. Government of Canada — Women as Agents of Change in the Americas
The ‘Women as agents of change in the Americas’ call for proposals provides funding to development assistance initiatives that target gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls. Proposed project must contribute to the achievement of gender equality and empowerment of women and girls in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) region, including on climate-change issues. Projects can request up to CAN $5 million for two to five years. Eligibility extends to established organizations in Canada or the LAC region. U.S. Department of State — Combat Wildlife Trafficking in Brazil
The U.S. Department of State seeks applications for the programme ‘Combat Wildlife Trafficking in Brazil’. Programs need to build Brazil’s capacity to deter, detect, investigate, prosecute, and adjudicate wildlife poaching and trafficking cases.
