Singularity University — MENA Global Impact Challenge

SingularityU invites applications for the MENA Global Impact Challenge to foster innovations and startups that positively impact the lives of people living in the Middle East and North Africa. Thematic areas include sustainable energy, climate-secure agriculture, and others. The winner of this challenge will be selected at a final pitch event and receive a full scholarship to attend SU’s Global Startup Program (GSP). University of Cape Town — CSAG Winter School 2019

The Climate Systems Analysis Group (CSAG) at the University of Cape Town organizes a “winter school” intensive course, with the next one scheduled for five days in July 2019. The course is presented by facilitators from CSAG and other institutions to take participants through the full spectrum of topics related to climate and climate change, with an emphasis on issues in developing countries. World Bank — Developing an Agricultural Risk Financing Tool for Southern Africa

The Global Facility for Disaster Reduction and Recovery (GFDRR) and partners seek innovators to design a tool that can support public finance decisions based on an integrated approach for the management of agriculture sector risks. The tool should help to prioritize investments in resilience and preparedness to reduce agriculture losses, poverty and food insecurity. All approaches should be scalable to regions or countries in Sub-Saharan Africa. Crenov8 Consulting seeks innovative ideas and enterprises with projects and methods to improve the agriculture value chain across Africa. The competition is aimed at early stage Agric entrepreneurs from all sectors of the agriculture ecosystem. Winners will receive an all-expense paid trip to Dubai to participate and exhibit in the MTFC grand finale and pitch their idea for the top prize of US$5 thousand. U.S. Agency for International Development — Agriculture Development in Ukraine

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) seeks applications for funding of an activity entitled “Agriculture Growing Rural Opportunities (AGRO) Activity in Ukraine”. The aim of this activity is to accelerate the economic development of rural Ukrainian communities and create profitable small and medium agricultural businesses. The Cooperative Agreement will grant a total amount up to $35 million over a 5-year period. Non-profit or for-profit non-governmental organizations (NGOs) are eligible to apply. Pro Natura Foundation — Applications 2019

The Pro Natura Foundation makes grants to individuals and organizations for nature conservation in Japan and developing countries. This program is focused on scientific research concerning the conservation of biodiversity and the relationship between humans and the environment. Grants of up to 1,5 million yen are for one year. U.S. Department of State — Equal Access to Jobs for Women in Agriculture

The EQUAL Project – Colombia provides funding to one technical assistance project in Colombia to economically empower vulnerable women and girls within the agricultural sector. The objective of the project is to reduce the risk of child labor, forced labor, and other violations of labor rights. Applicants may apply for up to US$5 million. Save Our Species — Lemur Conservation in Madagascar

SOS announces a special call for proposals to protect threatened lemurs in Madagascar. Applicants should develop their proposals in accord with the IUCN strategy for lemur conservation in Madagascar. Eligibility for grants extends to civil society organizations for field-based conservation. Applicants will be expected to work closely with local communities and government authorities. European Union — Central European Initiative, Call for Proposals 2019

The CEI makes grants to support its action plan. Cooperation projects are mainly for seminars, workshops, training courses, and other kinds of meetings. Priority themes include climate, environment, sustainable energy, and others. Projects can be submitted by all public and private bodies in CEI’s member states, as well as by international and regional organizations. Preference is for proposals submitted from CEI’s non-EU member states (Albania, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Serbia, and Ukraine). Grants are up to €15 thousand. The U.S. Embassy Vientiane invites applications from organizations to carry out a five-day workshop in Laos on on agriculture-related entrepreneurship (agri-biz) for the Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative (YSEALI). The workshop will focus on building theoretical and practical knowledge about responsible, sustainable and environmentally sound agri-biz initiatives in Southeast Asia.
