MedPAN launches a new call for small projects to support Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) in the Mediterranean. This call targets co-management approaches for Marine Protected Areas. The call is only open to Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Lebanon, Turkey, and Albania. MedPAN’s contribution will be €20 thousand per project (matching contributions of 25 % are required). The KEEN Effect — Nature-based Education
The KEEN Effect seeks programs that bring children outside for adventurous recreation, environmental stewardship, and nature-based education. The KEEN Effect Youth program provides funding to grassroots organizations developing youth (age 18 or under) activities in the outdoors worldwide. The program grants up to US$20 thousand per project over a two-year cycle. Eligibility extends to registered non-profit organizations. Applications must be submitted by 31 January 2020. U.S. Department of State — Economic Development in the Middle East
The MEPI Local Grants Program seeks proposals that support inclusive economic growth in the Western Sahara by improving local economic opportunities. Proposals should develop and implementing locally-designed solutions to environmental, economic, or social problems or promote inclusive economic growth that reaches marginalized communities. (Note: This may include one or more categories of the Terra Viva Grant Directory.) Budgets should fall between US$50 thousand and US$500 thousand. World Academy of Sciences — Science Awards 2020
Each year, the World Academy of Sciences (TWAS) awards nine awards of US$10 thousand each to individual scientists who have been working and living in a developing country for at least 10 years. The disciplinary fields include agricultural sciences, biology, and seven others. TWAS particularly encourages nominations of women scientists, and scientists from scientifically-lagging countries. UNESCO Institute for Water Education — Masters Fellowships
Located in the Netherlands, UNESCO-IHE offers six scholarships for the Water Cooperation and Diplomacy master’s program. The objective of the program is to train future water managers and other professionals to address competition over water. Eligibility extends to existing and future water professionals from Afghanistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. The scholarship will cover educational fees, however, successful applicants will be required to fund up to approximately US$5 thousand for living costs and flights. Chinese Academy of Sciences — PhD and Master Fellowships in China 2020
The Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) invites applications for the ANSO Scholarship for Young Talents to pursue Masters and PhD studies in China. Eligible fields of study include agricultural sciences, various fields of biology, and other areas of the natural sciences and engineering. The program will award scholarships to non-Chinese applicants worldwide. The maximum age of applicants is 30 (master) and 35 (PhD). MaRINET2 — Access to Ocean Energy Research Infrastructures
MaRINET2 is working towards unlocking the energy potential of our oceans. The transnational access program offers free-of-charge access to the research and testing facilities of the MaRINET2 network. MaRINET2 provides a contribution of €1000 per week towards travel and subsistence expenses. In 2020 one period of access with a 6-month duration will be organised.
