Association of Zoos and Aquariums — Conservation Grants Fund 2022

The AZA’s Conservation Grants Fund makes grants for animal health; animal welfare; conservation education; field conservation and/or reintroduction; management and/or breeding; and research. The principal investigator in a grants application must be an AZA member. Many grants are awarded to collaborations among AZA-accredited institutions; government wildlife agencies; academia; and conservation NGOs. European Commission — Consolidator Grants

The European Commission provides Consolidator Grants to experienced researchers with a scientific track record. ERC Grants support projects carried out by an individual researcher who can employ researchers of any nationality as team members. Applications can be made in any field of research. Proposed research projects under this program must be conducted in a public or private research organization located in one of the EU Member States or Associated Countries. Consolidator Grants may be awarded up to €2 million for a period of 5 years. The deadline for applications is 17 March 2022. Link

United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization — Youth Multimedia Competition

UNESCO invites youth around the world to take part in a Multimedia Competition in response to an acute world problem. The 2022 competition revolves around a question on “the Sustainable Development Goals and how local communities deal with them”. Participants are required to produce a 3-minute video, multimedia presentation, 500-700 written essay, or art work. The competition is divided by age groups: Juniors (ages 10-14); Youth (ages 15-19); and Young Adult (ages 20-24). The three finalists from each group will receive a certificate and an invitation to UNESCO’s Builders of the Universe Camp held at Hood College in Frederick (USA), including a scholarship for the fee for the camp, food, accommodations, and transport. Land Accelerator — Restoration of Degraded Forests and Farmland (South Asia)

The Land Accelerator trains and supports entrepreneurs that restore degraded forests and farmland. The program offers an all-virtual business creation and growth accelerator in South Asia. The accelerator is designed for companies that are in the testing phase of taking their product to market. Any business model that is recognized as restoring land is eligible, including, but not limited to smart agriculture, water conservation, agroforestry, tree planting, and beekeeping, forest conservation. Applications are currently open for entrepreneurs from South Asia. 15 participants will receive an innovation grant of €3 thousand. The deadline is 31 March 2022. Land Accelerator South Asia

Latvian State Education Development Agency — Scholarships 2022/2023

The Latvian State Education Development Agency offers scholarships to foreign students, researchers and teaching staff for studies, research and participation in summer schools in Latvian higher education institutions (HEIs) for the academic year 2022/2023. Study programs include Agriculture, Environmental Science, Forestry, Energy, among others. The scholarship amount varies from €500 to €670 per month, depending on the program. Eligibility extends to countries that signed an agreement on cooperation in education and science (detailed in the announcement). The deadline for application is 01 April 2022. About the scholarship

United Nations — World Oceans Day Photo Competition 2022

The World Oceans Day aims to raise global awareness of the current challenges faced by the oceans and showcase possible solutions. The United Nations General Assembly seeks submissions to the World Oceans Day Photo Competition to share the beauty and importance of the oceans through photographs. The photo competition has seven thematic categories open for photographic submissions from all around the world. Cranfield Water Science Institute — Full Scholarships

The Cranfield Water Science Institute offers 15 scholarships across for MSc courses in Water & Wastewater Engineering, Water & Sanitation for Development and Advanced Water Management. The scholarships cover full tuition fees for a full-time master’s course. Citizens of any country can apply for a scholarship but must have an offer of admission for an eligible full-time master’s course before applying. Applications close on 25 April 2022. Information

AQUACOSM — Access to Mesocosms Facilities

AQUACOSM, the EU network of mesocosm facilities for research on marine and freshwater ecosystems open for global collaboration, invites applications to the Transnational Access (TA) program. Successful TA applicants will have access to AQUACOSM partner facilities including logistical, technological and scientific support, specific training as well as travel and accommodation free of charge. Lawrence Foundation — Grants for Environment 2022

The Lawrence Foundation makes grants to U.S. nonprofit organizations for projects in environment, human services, and other themes. There is no restriction on the geographical area where grant activities can be implemented. The average grant size is between US$5 thousand and US$10 thousand. The deadlines for applications are 30 April and 31 October of each year. Link

Veolia Foundation — Student Solidarity Awards 2022

The Student Solidarity Awards aim to encourage associations of students in institutions of higher education to take initiatives in community-oriented projects. The program is open in countries around the world where the Veolia group is present. The awards are for innovative approaches in themes that include environmental conservation, development aid, and workforce development. Three contest winners will divide €10 thousand in grants.
