Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit — Climate Innovation Contest 2022

The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) launches the Climate Innovation Fund to award innovative ideas that will help improve the conservation and sustainable use of natural resources in Ethiopia. Projects should increase the sustainable use of natural resources, create job opportunities through the use of biodiversity, and help restore degraded landscapes. GIZ will contribute up to €50 thousand worth of investments. GIZ invites start-ups and small businesses in the sectors of technology (app developers), food production, cosmetics, pharmaceutical and timber to apply. Safe Seaweed Coalition — Funding

The Safe Seaweed Coalition (SSC) calls for proposals to support the safety and sustainability of the seaweed industry. SSC will support workshops, working groups, training, staff exchanges, technology platforms, pilot demonstration, prototypes, capacity building, and educational programs. Grants of €50 thousand will help the development of food, environmental, and occupational safety in the seaweed sector. Canada Fund for Local Initiatives — Community Projects in Senegal

The Canada Fund for Local Initiatives invites proposals that meet the needs of local communities in Senegal, Cabo Verde, The Gambia, Guinea, and Guinea-Bissau. The priorities under this call include one on environment and climate action focusing on adaptation and mitigation, as well as on water management. The average contribution is C$30 thousand to C$60 thousand per project. Eligibility extends to local community organizations, non-profit organizations, and academic institutions. Mongabay — WildTech Reporting Fellowship

Mongabay.org offers an internship program which primarily involves writing environmental news stories. The WildTech Fellow will work directly with Mongabay editors to develop their writing skills and publish a series of their stories on Mongabay’s independent news platform. SEED — Starter Workshop for Eco-Enterprises in Botswana

SEED offers valuable resources and professional support to expand entrepreneurial ideas while learning from peers during interactive SEED Starter workshops. SEED Starter workshops consist of a team of 2-5 members that bring in a business idea for addressing environmental, social and economic challenges. Successful alumni are invited to apply for a SEED Grant for up to €1,000 which pays for resources required to establish the new enterprise. United Nations — Action Awards for Sustainable Development Goals

The UN SDG Action Awards aim to support action to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Mobilizers, storytellers, campaigners, connectors, visualizers, and creatives fighting for sustainable development can submit an application. The Awards are open to individuals, organizations, governments, foundations, or private sector leaders from across the world. Village Capital — Greentech Europe

Village Capital launches an investment readiness program to support gender diverse ventures creating sustainable economic, environmental, and social solutions across Europe. The program currently accepts 50 additional startups to participate in an online, self-paced investment-readiness curriculum. The program will run for twelve weeks. Echoing Green — Fellowships 2022

Echoing Green helps emerging social entrepreneurs around the world with grants of seed capital and technical assistance to support their start-up organizations. Seed funding of up to US$80 thousand over 18 months is offered to for-profit organizations in the form of recoverable grants. Past fellowships include examples in renewable energy, waste management, smallholder farming, climate change, and other societal challenges in developing countries.
