ChangemakerXchange — Climate Action Summit

ChangemakerXchange launches a global intersectional climate action program that supports the world’s leading climate action changemakers and activists from different regions. In 2022, there will be three in-person summits and a follow-up community and capacity-building program in Europe, MENA, and North America. Applicants must come from or be currently living in one of the eligible countries and be aged 18 – 35. Participants are asked to cover their own transportation costs. Wild Animal Initiative — Small Grants Program

Wild Animal Initiative provides grants for research projects that help us understand and improve the lives of wild animals. Small grants support innovative methods for measuring and monitoring wild animal welfare, population regulation, wildlife rehabilitation and conservation interventions. Grant size varies from US$2 thousand to US$30 thousand. The small grants program is open to anyone, although Wild Animal Initiative is especially interested in supporting postdocs and PhD students pursuing a long-term research career in the field of wild animal welfare, and researchers who have not previously included welfare considerations in their work. Earth Journalism Network — Reporting Fellowships to COP27

The Earth Journalism Network seeks 22 journalists from low- and middle-income countries to report in-person at COP27 (Egypt, November 2022). Organizers may also offer a limited number of virtual fellowships with mentoring and other support. The fellowship covers economy-class airfare, accommodation, meals, travel insurance, and transportation costs. Prior to the start of COP27, Fellows will receive resources and technical support to help prepare for reporting at the conference. Chicago Zoo — Endangered Species Fund

The Chicago Zoological Society administers conservation grants funded by the Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT). The Fund’s priority is to support projects that assist directly in the protection of populations of threatened and endangered species; or that protect a specific habitat that is of high biological value or that is substantially threatened (IUCN Red List Status). Japan Water Forum — Small Grants for Water Projects

The Japan Water Forum makes small grants to grassroots organizations in least-developed countries. Funding is made to projects addressing local water-related issues, including innovative solutions for water and sanitation, risk reduction for water-related disasters, and WASH projects. Acumen — West Africa Fellowship

The Acumen Fellows Program supports social innovators from West Africa who are tackling issues of poverty and injustice within their community. The Fellowship consists of a fully-funded leadership program, where Fellows remain in their role while taking part in a series of immersive seminars, workshops, and group practice. Past fellows have included several in smallholder agriculture, renewable energy, waste management, fair trade, and other subject areas. Applications have to be received by 12 July 2022. Elsevier Foundation — Chemistry for Climate Action Challenge

The Elsevier Foundation Green and Sustainable Chemistry Challenge is open for individuals and organizations whose projects use green and sustainable chemistry solutions to tackle climate change challenges. The Challenge aims to recognize the pivotal role women play in combating climate change, therefore, projects must take into consideration gender components. Scotiabank — Decarbonization Research

The Scotiabank accepts applications for projects that will advance research and leadership in support of global decarbonization efforts. The Net Zero Research Fund (NZRF) seeks partnerships with leading think-tanks and academic institutions that are supporting key sectors in their efforts to decarbonize. Scotiabank will award grants ranging from CA$25 thousand up to CA$100 thousand. To be eligible for funding, partner organizations must be registered not-for-profit or charitable organizations in Canada, the US or Latin America. The European Riverprize invites applications from any organization or partnership who has achieved remarkable outcomes for rivers, river basins and their communities. The winner will receive the cash prize and trophy. RELX Group — Environmental Challenge in Water and Sanitation 2022

The RELX Group sponsors the RELX Group Environmental Challenge to recognize projects worldwide that best demonstrate sustainable access to safe water and/or access to improved sanitation. The challenge is open to individuals and organizations (profit and non-profit). Projects must advance sustainable access to safe water where it is presently at risk, and/or access to improved sanitation. The first prize is US$50 thousand; second prize is US$25 thousand.
