U.S. African Development Foundation — Financing for Agriculture

The U.S. African Development Foundation (USADF) invites applications from registered African agricultural cooperatives and enterprises for grant financing. Grants will support solutions that increase revenues, create jobs, improve farmer incomes, and achieve sustainable market-based growth. USADF accepts applications in Burundi, Cote d’Ivoire, DRC, Liberia, Mauritania, Nigeria, Senegal, Tanzania, Uganda, and Zambia. Applicants can request no more than US$250 thousand. Okayama City — Education for Sustainable Development

The Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) Okayama Award rewards outstanding education for sustainable development practices in local communities around the world. The award aims to support the organizations carrying out ESD activities and promote the concept to local communities globally through showcasing their initiatives. Two projects will be selected to receive an award of US$3 thousand each. One representative of the winning projects will be invited to the Award Ceremony in Okayama (Japan). Ashoka — African Climate Changemakers

The Young African Climate Changemakers Challenge calls on young people aged 16-25 across South Africa, Zimbabwe, Namibia, and Botswana to unleash their innovation in tackling climate change through ideas and existing initiatives. Applicants will receive access to information and learning sessions, networking opportunities, and access to online resources on social entrepreneurship. Ashoka awards US$1000 to 10 selected winners. The World Around — Young Climate Prize

The World Around calls for applications to the Young Climate Prize. World Around seeks young people who are working on their self-started projects that address, draw attention to, or mitigate climate change in their communities. The program will provide visibility, support, and mentorship for 25 of the world’s most talented and passionate climate designers. Anyone aged 13-25 from anywhere can submit their work. 100,000 Strong in the Americas — Climate/Inclusive Education Grant

The 100,000 Strong in the Americas Innovation Fund, Alliance for Climate Action (100K CLIMA) competition invites higher education institutions from the United States and Brazil to create partnerships to submit proposals for consideration. The 100K CLIMA competition intends to award up to seven grants of up to US$40 thousand each. The purpose of the competition is to provide funding to support innovative partnerships between HEIs that will result in inclusive, climate-focused, student/faculty exchange and training programs. Social Shifters — Global Innovation Challenge

Social Shifters announces the Global Innovation Challenge to help young leaders and founders solve the social or environmental issues that matter to them. The challenge seeks creative ideas, projects, and business solutions to the problems that matter to local communities and welcomes ideas from anywhere in the world. Participants compete for awards of up to US$10 thousand to deliver activities that improve lives, help communities, and protect the planet. International Elephant Foundation — Elephant Conservation and Research 2024

The International Elephant Foundation makes grants for the conservation and research of elephants. Eligibility extends to organizations and individuals internationally — including students, scientists, and institutions. The Foundation supports in situ or ex-situ conservation of African or Asian elephants or their habitats. Most awards are about US$15 thousand for one year. PAGES — African Mobility Fellowship

PAGES runs an International Mobility Research Fellowship Program for African early-career scientists on past global changes. The program aims to contribute to the development of collaborative research and the promotion of paleoscience networks in Africa. The fellowship supports African early-career scientists pursuing international research experience in paleoscience and is intended to support costs associated with international travel and living expenses while abroad. United Nations Environment Programme — Waste Management in Developing Countries

The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) invites governments to submit applications to a special program on waste management in developing countries. The program may provide financial support of up to US$275 thousand (in certain circumstances up to US$500 thousand) to strengthen the capacities of national institutions and help the government develop and monitor the implementation of national policies, strategies, programs, and legislation. European Union — Internationalization Grants

The European Union seeks applications for the Internalization Grants which enable SMEs to enter new markets or strengthen competitiveness abroad. The program has a special focus on the green and digital transition. Applicants can apply only for € 2,500. The Internationalization Grants address small and medium-sized enterprises. Activities should meet one of the main target destinations in Africa, Asia, North and Latin America. The application deadline is 30 September 2024. More
