The Women for Africa Foundation has launched the 9th Edition of its “Science by Women” program. The program aims to promote African women’s leadership in scientific research and technology transfer and to foster the capacity of the research centers in their home countries. Thematic areas include sustainable agriculture and food security, water, energy and climate change; and several others. Each Spanish Centre of Excellence will host one senior woman researcher for a six-month fellowship. Eligibility to apply extends to women who are nationals of any African country, and who have a PhD, with at least three years of postdoctoral experience. ETH Zurich — Faculty Exchange Grants
ETH for Development (ETH4D) provides grants for visiting scientists who belong to academic institutions in low and lower-middle-income countries. The visiting scientist may visit ETH Zurich to conduct a short research stay or to attend a conference or workshop organized by ETH Zurich scientists. The grant covers expenses up to a maximum of CHF 10 thousand. The main applicant has to be a senior scientist or professor of ETH Zurich and invite colleagues from lower-income countries. ETH for Development (ETH4D) supports ETH bachelor students, master students, doctoral candidates, post-docs, and senior scientists to develop prototypes. The grant sum is up to CHF 5 thousand. Preference is given to activities in lower-middle-income countries with direct involvement of collaborating institutions or agencies from said countries. The application deadline is 15 October 2024. Caribbean Climate Investment Program — Climate Finance for Development
The Caribbean Climate Investment Program (CCIP) seeks applications to mobilize private sector financing for technologies that advance climate mitigation and adaptation goals across the Caribbean region. The primary focus is to catalyze financing for the development of RE and EE technology and deploy climate change adaptation interventions that increase the resiliency of clean energy investments in the region. Grants are limited to US$1 million per project. Applicants must be Caribbean-based businesses or organizations. Concept papers will be accepted on a rolling basis through 01 August 2025. Link to CCIP
Finnish Government — Recruiting Foreign Doctoral Students
The EDUFI Fellowship provides initial funding to carry out research for a doctoral thesis in Finland. Researchers or Teachers in Finnish university departments, who wish to recruit a doctoral student or a young researcher from outside Finland, can apply on behalf of the foreign student. The fellowship grant is intended for post-graduate studies as well as research and teaching cooperation in Finnish universities and covers the living costs of the fellow. Asia Foundation — Grants for Environment and Development
The Asia Foundation makes grants in a wide variety of program areas, including the Environment. Thematic interests in the environment include natural resource management and use; water resource management and transboundary water sharing; climate change adaptation and resilience; disaster preparedness and risk reduction; urban environmental issues; and women and the environment. Rapid Response Facility — Emergency Funding for Conservation
The Rapid Response Facility is designed to deliver rapid conservation funding in times of crisis, with a focus on protecting UNESCO’s natural World Heritage sites and potential sites. Eligibility for grants extends to agencies legally responsible for site management; registered local, national, and international NGOs; and the private sector. Grants of US$5 thousand to US$40 thousand are awarded for periods of up to six months. Applications can be submitted at any time. Link
