Austrian Development Agency
Grants for projects in natural resources, environment, and energy — with emphasis on Austria’s “East” and “South”
Principal Office: Austria
The Austrian Development Agency (ADA) is the operational unit of Austrian Development Cooperation. The ADA implements bilateral aid programs and projects in partner developing countries in collaboration with public institutions, NGOs, and private enterprises.
The central purpose of Austria’s aid is to contribute towards reducing global poverty, safeguarding peace and human security, and protecting the environment.
Thematic priorities in ADA of relevance for the Terra Viva Grants Directory include environment and natural resources; water supply and sanitation; rural development; and energy.
Grant Programs for Agriculture, Energy, Environment, Natural Resources
1 — Grants for Austrian civil society organizations. ADA co-finances Austrian NGOs and other Austrian civil society organizations for their programs and projects in the developing world. This is through a variety of funding instruments, each of which has different requirements regarding the grant amounts and cost shares that ADA will fund.
APPLICATION: ADA publishes profiles of each NGO program. The information includes grant guidelines, application forms, budget forms, application deadlines, and other supporting materials.

APPLICATION: Interested Austrian companies should contact ADA’s Business Partnership Office.
3 — Grants for organizations in partner countries. The ADA accepts proposals from government bodies and civil society organizations in its partner countries. The proposed projects must contribute to the priorities of Austrian cooperation, i.e., its regional and country strategies.
APPLICATION: Interested organizations prepare and submit concept notes to the relevant ADA field offices. ADA posts its country strategies, and it lists its field offices (in programs).
