The Korean International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) engages in international development cooperation by providing material and physical aid to reduce poverty and achieve sustainable development. KOICA reports to the Bureau for Development Cooperation within South Korea’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
South Korea’s principal aid recipients are developing countries in Asia. Additionally, South Korea is rapidly increasing its support for Sub-Saharan Africa.
Among KOICA’s several program areas, the ones most important in the Terra Viva Grants Directory are rural development (including agriculture and fisheries), environment, and climate change.
Grant Programs for Agriculture, Energy, Environment, Natural Resources
1 — Creative Technology Solution Program. The Creative Technology Solution (CTS) Program supports innovative ideas and newest technologies in order to to find solutions to challenging development tasks of various development projects.

2 — Fellowship Program. The fellowship program (CIAT) invites public sector representatives of developing countries to Korea and provides capacity building training.

APPLICATION (CIAT): Applicants have to apply through KOICA’s regional offices or the Korean Embassy. Each university has different application guidelines and each program may have different criteria.
