Grant Programs for Agriculture, Energy, Environment, Natural Resources
Sustainable Resource Management in Latin America. Tinker funds best practices, technical training, and policies and other approaches to avoid over-exploitation of natural resources in Latin America. The Foundation also supports projects aiming for equitable access to clean and secure water supplies for local communities.
About the program
Eligibility for institutional grants extends to nonprofit charitable organizations in the USA, and to organizations in other countries (e.g., Latin America) that have equivalent charitable status. Most grants are to conservation NGOs; botanical gardens; universities and educational institutes; civil society groups, and similar.
Recent grants generally range from US$50 thousand to US$500 thousand for projects of one to three years.
APPLICATION: Tinker advises grant seekers to submit a brief letter of inquiry (LOI) to describe the project, its proposed budget, and the organization.
For LOIs that it approves, the Foundation invites complete proposals that should follow Tinker’s instructions for institutional grants. Proposals need to be submitted in English.
Tinker’s Board of Directors reviews applications twice a year. The website posts the calendar cycle.
