The International Marine Animal Trainers Association (IMATA) provides financial support for investigations which advance the humane care and handling of marine animals by fostering communication between professionals that serve marine animal science through training, public display, research, husbandry, conservation, and education. EuroMarine funds Foresight Workshops with a maximum funding of €10 thousand. Workshops should focus on emerging and important topics requiring European-wide coordination. All workshops are expected to yield scientific publications in the wider area of understanding, protection, and management of the Ocean. Proposals should involve at least three full Member Organizations of EuroMarine, from at least two different countries. The Waitt Foundation makes Rapid Ocean Conservation (ROC) grants to strengthen and expand marine protected areas, and to promote sustainable fisheries. Grants support scientific research, policy, management, and public awareness. There are no geographical restrictions. Grants are up to US$10 thousand, and occasionally up to US$15 thousand. The Atlantis Atlas Project (AAP) contributes to the conservation, sustainability, and environmental educational initiatives of marine wildlife. Projects must contribute to the long-term survival of species in natural ecosystems, advance conservation practices that can be applied to animals in their natural ecosystems, enhance understanding of social and environmental responsibility, or develop new ways to reduce environmental impacts. The EMBracing the Ocean program provides grants of €10 thousand to individuals or groups to create artwork in collaboration with Ocean scientists. The Ocean Awards recognize individuals, community groups, organizations, and businesses that have made significant contributions to the health of the marine environment, to the sustainable management of marine resources, or to public engagement with the oceans and seas. Winners will receive media coverage and have a professional film about their achievements. Initiatives from all around the world can be nominated for the award. The ProBleu funding initiative supports primary and secondary schools as essential champions in educating children and youth about blue sustainability and the safeguarding of marine and freshwater ecosystems. The call is open to primary and secondary-level schools in the EU Member States and associated countries. The Marine Mammal Commission invites worldwide proposals on community-driven conservation approaches to eliminate, manage, or mitigate threats to marine mammals. The Commission supports projects on any subject in support of marine mammal conservation, protection, research, and management. All projects must include an outreach, communication, or engagement component that furthers marine mammal conservation or management efforts. Funding requests are limited to US$60 thousand. The Waterloo Foundation manages an Environment Fund that supports projects to manage and conserve marine resources. Applications are invited from UK charities in partnerships with local organizations in the developing world, and from non-UK organizations that can provide suitable references in the UK. The majority of grants range from £50 thousand to £100 thousand for projects of up to three years. Application deadlines are 01 March and 01 September each year. About the Marine Fund
The Antarctic Wildlife Research Fund (AWR) calls for proposals from scientific researchers who can aid in determining the impact of the krill fishing industry on the Antarctic marine ecosystem.
