South Pole seeks conservation and restoration projects in forestry and land use that protect wildlife, empower communities, and create sustainable economies, as well as large-scale nature-based solutions for a post-COVID green recovery. Ecosystem protection projects and restoration projects must focus on creating or protecting the habitat of endangered species. UNESCO invites applications for the UNESCO Young Professionals Program as a starting point for a career at UNESCO. The program is designed for university graduates and young professionals from non- and under-represented Member States. Applicants should have an advanced university degree; be fluent in English or French; and meet other criteria relevant to experience, skills, and age. SDG Academy, in partnership with edX, offers an online course on natural resources for sustainable development. In this 12-week course, participants will learn about efforts to sustainably manage extractive industry investments. Applicants who are sustainable development practitioners, such as those who work in corporate sustainability and responsibility or renewable energy, graduate students and climate change activists or are particularly encouraged to participate. The Earth Journalism Network (EJN) invites communicators to join a national workshop on renewable energy in Chennai (India) from October 24-26, 2024. Legal Aid Forum — Environmental Journalism Training Program
The Legal Aid Forum Rwanda (LAF) launches the Environmental Journalism Training Program for accredited Rwandan journalists. The program will equip local journalists with essential skills and legal support to effectively report on environmental issues, including environmental crimes, the green economy, climate change, and sustainable adaptation. Up to twelve of the fifteen successful applicants will receive production support to help them produce their stories. Journalists working in any medium or multiple media are welcome to apply. Scottish Graduate School for Arts & Humanities EARTH Scholarship enables international research collaborations between PhD and early-career researchers and Scottish universities. Earth Journalism Network — Infrastructure Reporting in Southeast Asia
The Earth Journalism Network (EJN) accepts applications for a Journalist Fellowship that supports Infrastructure Reporting in Southeast Asia to equip early- to mid-career journalists with training, mentoring, and story grants to report on infrastructural development and its impacts on the environment and human rights. EJN expects to award 16 story grants with an average budget of US$2,000 each. Participants can be from Malaysia, Brunei, Timor Leste, Indonesia, Singapore, and the Philippines. Italian Agency for Development Cooperation — Amazon Program
The Italian Agency for Development Cooperation announced a call for proposals to foster effective and sustainable cooperation with non-governmental organizations, with the aim of implementing concrete initiatives that contribute to strengthening local capacities and preventing deforestation and forest degradation of the Amazon Rainforest. The actions must be located in Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, and Venezuela. The approximate total amount amount is €1,5 million. To be able to opt for a subsidy, the applicant principal must be a civil society organization based in one of the eight countries of the Amazon basin or the European Union with a domicile abroad.
