Conservation, Food and Health Foundation — Local Project Support

The Conservation, Food and Health Foundation supports special projects and programs in the areas of conservation, food, and health in low- and lower-middle-income countries in Asia, Africa, Latin America, and the Middle East. The foundation supports projects that demonstrate local leadership; develop the capacity of local organizations; and address a particular problem or question in the field. Eligibility extends to NGOs, community-based organizations, and academic institutions. There is no maximum grant size. Most grants will fall in the US$25 thousand to US$50 thousand per year range. Jean Sainsbury Animal Welfare Trust — Animal Protection and Welfare

The Jean Sainsbury Animal Welfare Trust makes grants to small UK-registered charities in support of animal protection, animal welfare, and the conservation of wildlife. The Trust only supports UK charities but funds can be used for animal protection projects abroad. The maximum funding given in the past was £35 thousand. Rainforest Alliance — Kleinhans Fellowship for Research in Community Forestry

The Rainforest Alliance is interested in helping communities and small- and medium-sized enterprises to harvest and manufacture forest and non-timber forest products in a sustainable manner, and market these goods to responsible businesses and consumers. The Kleinhans Fellowship provides US$20 thousand over two years for research on this topic in Latin America, with preference for sites where the Rainforest Alliance currently supports community forestry. Applicants must have at least a master’s degree in forestry, ecology, botany, environmental science, or an appropriate related field. The next deadline for applications is 28 February 2025. Efico Foundation — Support for Coffee Producers

EFICO Foundation supports coffee farmers and their families through training and education programs, sustainable income increase, resilience to climate change, infrastructure support, and natural resource protection. About every 3 years, the Foundation organizes a project initiation round and funds projects that aim to improve the living conditions of coffee producers and their communities. Preference is given to projects having a clear strategy to become self-sustaining and creating a leverage effect. Applicants receive a full application form after contact. Efico Foundation

Green Climate Fund — Readiness Grants

The GCF offers grants up to US$1 million per country per year to help developing countries understand the GCF program, and to submit applications for accreditation. Priority for the readiness grants focuses on the Least Developed Countries (LDCs), Small Island Developing States (SIDS), and African States. Proposals for readiness grants are submitted through the country’s National Designated Authority or Focal Point for the GCF. Proposals can be submitted at any time. Know more

TED-Ed — Earth School

Earth School consists of 30 days of nature-focused content for learners of all ages. Each Quest includes videos and a quiz, combined with a series of engaging learning resources curated by environmental experts. Teachers and parents are invited to use these lessons and activities to keep their students and kids engaged and connected to the outside world. Lessons are free and accessible anytime. United States Agency for International Development — Unsolicited Solutions for Locally Led Development

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) supports sustainable and locally driven ideas from organizations of all types and sizes around the world. USAID supports locally driven activities through awards of up to US$2 million. Organizations that have received less than $5 million directly from USAID over the previous five fiscal years are eligible to apply. Concepts are accepted on a rolling basis. Know more

The International Foundation — Projects in International Development

The International Foundation makes grants in subject areas that include agriculture, water and sanitation, environment, and several others. Grants are to nonprofit tax-exempt charitable organizations in the USA. Most grant recipients are small and medium NGOs in the USA engaged in international development assistance. International Marine Animal Trainers Association — Conservation Fund

The International Marine Animal Trainers Association (IMATA) provides financial support for non-profit organization projects which focus on conservation-oriented issues that serve marine mammal science through training, public display, research, husbandry, conservation, and education. Grants of up to US$5 thousand are for projects of one year. The Principal Investigator or co-PI must be a member of IMATA. The association accepts proposals all year. Eisenhower Fellowships — Global Fellowship Program

Eisenhower Fellowships (EF) empower innovative leaders through a transformative fellowship experience in a global network of dynamic change agents committed to creating a more peaceful world. Fellows will be invited to the United States for a six-week program with both in-person and virtual components, where they will develop a project, and collaborate with their American counterparts. Fellows range between 32 and 45 years of age at the time of fellowship and must be highly proficient in English. Applications are accepted across the globe but preference is given to candidates in countries where EF is active. The application deadline is 16 August 2024. Details here
