Franklin Institute — Bower Award for Science Achievement 2019

The Bower Award of US$250 thousand is made to individuals who have made significant contributions to understanding and quantifying perturbations of natural systems within the biosphere, atmosphere, or hydrosphere in the age of the Anthropocene. The competition is open internationally. Self-nominations are accepted. Notices of intent to nominate should be sent by 30 April 2017. The deadline for nominations is 31 May 2017. About the award

EEA and Norway Grants — Strengthening Bilateral Relations

The EEA and Norway Grants support cross-border and transnational project initiatives in ten non-EU Member States. Proposals that fall within the scope of the Terra Viva Grants Directory include environment, energy, and climate change projects, among other focus areas. Grants are available for national and local authorities, NGOs and civil society organisations, private and public enterprises, educational and research institutions, students and teaching staff and social partners. Eligible entities must apply as a consortium, consisting of entities from a minimum of three countries (a list of eligible countries is shared in the announcement). European Commission — Kolarctic Collaboration, Europe with Russia (3rd Call for Proposals)

Kolarctic offers funding to projects that contribute to internationalization and cross-border cooperation between countries in northern Europe (Finland, Norway, Sweden) and Northwest Russia. Themes in Kolarctic address environmental protection, along with climate change adaptation and mitigation (among others). Eligibility for project funding extends to private and public organizations from each side of the EU-Russia border. Every project should provide at least 10% co-funding. International Institute of Education — Indigenous Biocultural Exchange Fund

The Indigenous Biocultural Exchange Fund provides up to US$5 thousand to indigenous individuals to attend global biocultural exchanges or meetings which impact the applicant’s home territory or region. Applicants must be indigenous or members of a local indigenous community. Additional preference will be given to women and youth. The fund is especially for, but not limited to, indigenous individuals in the following regions: African Rift Valley, Central Asia & Turkey, Southwest U.S. & Northern Mexico, Northern Australia, and Melanesia. RUFORUM — Post-Doctoral Fellowships 2018

The Regional Universities Forum for Capacity Building in Agriculture (RUFORUM) invites applications from former RUFORUM-Carnegie supported doctoral alumni for a 2 year post-doctoral fellowships to be based at a university in Africa. Applications from candidates who have submitted their theses for external examination will also be considered. The maximum award for this call is US$60 thousand per fellowship. French Institute for Development Research — Creation of International Laboratories

The French Institute for Development Research (IRD) calls for projects for the creation of international mixed laboratories (LMI) with the aim to strengthen the international influence of higher education and research centers in developing countries. Proposals should be co-built and co-led by teams from one or more research institutions in the developing world, and supervised by an IRD member. European Space Agency — Living Planet Fellowship 2018

The European Space Agency (ESA) invites young researchers to submit research proposals for the Living Planet Fellowship 2018. Eligible research areas are (1) Advancing Novel Methods and Techniques; and (2) Advancing Earth System Science. ESA will support up to 10 Post-Doctoral researchers to carry out a research project at a Host Institution in an eligible ESA Member State. European Commission — Improved Regional Fisheries Governance in West Africa

The European Commission calls for projects that increase the sustainability of the use of marine resources in West Africa by enhancing scientific knowledge, and supporting the development and implementation of effective management/conservation measures. Eligibility extends to individuals working for a scientific institute, a West African or International NGO, or an international organisation. Grants are between €1 million and €1.5 million. International Council for Science — IRDR Young Scientists Program (3rd Batch)

The International Council for Science, in collaboration with several partner organizations, invites applications for the IRDR (Integrated Research on Disaster Risk) Young Scientists Program. The program offers young scientists (under age 40) of any nationality the opportunity to engage with a global network of professionals and practitioners. Benefits include international linkages and the possibility to be invited for additional training. The IUSSTF invites Indian Women Scientists, Engineers & Technologists to apply for the “Indo-U.S. Fellowship for Women in STEMM” to undertake international collaborative research in the USA.
