Landesa Rural Development Institute — Women’s Land Rights Visiting Professionals 2018

Landesa’s program for Visiting Professionals supports motivated professionals to enhance their ability to improve women’s land rights in the developing world. The program is currently open to professionals working in China, India, Liberia, Myanmar, or Tanzania.  Landesa provides orientation and leadership training in Seattle (USA). Applicants should have at least five years of development experience. The application deadline is 20 August 2017.  Link

International Institute of Education — Indigenous Biocultural Exchange Fund

The Indigenous Biocultural Exchange Fund provides up to US$5 thousand to indigenous individuals to attend global biocultural exchanges or meetings which impact the applicant’s home territory or region.  Applicants must be indigenous or members of a local indigenous community. Additional preference will be given to women and youth. The fund is especially for, but not limited to, indigenous individuals in the following regions: African Rift Valley; Central Asia and Turkey; Southwest U.S. and Northern Mexico; Northern Australia; and Melanesia. Energy and Environment Partnership, Mekong Region — 8th Call for Proposals

The Energy and Environment Partnership with the Mekong Region (EEP Mekong) announces its eighth call for proposals on clean energy. With financial support from the Government of Finland, EEP Mekong will support clean energy projects in the private sector that are close to commercial maturity, but that need a limited amount of bridge finance. Window 8A is for civil society organizations; Window 8B is for the private sector. Projects should be based in one of the following countries: Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, or Vietnam. The minimum size of a proposed project is €250 thousand. The deadline for proposals is 31 August 2017. Link

Indo-U.S. Science and Technology Forum — Water Advanced Research and Innovation Fellowships

The Water Advanced Research and Innovation Fellowships fund Indian participants to gain exposure and access to research facilities in water resources at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and the Daugherty Water for Food Institute. Fellowships of three to twelve months are for Indian scientists holding a PhD in water science and engineering. Internships of three to six months are for individuals currently engaged in their PhD studies in water sciences in India. The application deadline is 31 August 2017. Link

Zoos Victoria — Grants for International Conservation 2017-2018

Zoos Victoria (Australia) helps build international conservation partnerships. The International Grants program is themed ‘Wildlife Conservation through Community Engagement’, recognising the importance of engaging people in protecting wildlife, while supporting sustainable development. Eligibility extends to any organization or group that is able to undertake projects in this theme. Grants are up to AUD 20 thousand for projects of one year. The application deadline is 31 August 2017. Link

Both ENDS — Promoting Leadership of Young Environmentalists 2017

The Joke Waller-Hunter (JWH) Initiative offers grants to advance the leadership of young individuals working for or affiliated with environmental civil society organizations in developing and emerging countries. JWH especially encourages the nomination of young women and local community leaders. Grants range from €2,500 to €7,000 each. The next nomination deadline is 01 September 2017. Link

European Commission — Support for Fisheries in Albania

The EC announces funding to assist Albania to develop the capacity of its fishery administration to design, implement, enforce, and monitor the relevant policy measures and regulations.  Besides support to the fishery administration, the action includes the design and implementation of an investment grant scheme to the fishing fleet to improve its efficiency.  Eligibility for funding extends to government departments and other public bodies in EU member countries related to fishing. UK Department for International Development — Postdoctoral African Fellowship in Hydro-Economics

REACH is a 7-year programme funded by the UK’s Department for International Development, and led by the University of Oxford, to promote research in water science, policy, and practice. REACH will fund a postdoctoral African to develop a hydro-economic tool or model that can be used by Ethiopia’s Ministry of Water, Irrigation and Electricity to address water economics in the important Awash Basin.  Applicants must be nationals of a Sub-Sahara African country and should hold a PhD at the time of application.The available funding is up to £60 thousand through March 2019. Partnership for Economic Policy — Policy Analysis on Growth and Employment

With funding from the governments of UK and Canada, PEP has launched a new call for proposals addressing “Policy Analysis on Growth and Employment” (PAGE II, Round 2) in developing countries. The issues to be examined span a broad spectrum of development policy, including themes related to labor productivity in agriculture, entrepreneurship, and others. PAGE targets teams of researchers in developing countries — with preference for applicants from low-income, fragile, and/or conflict states. Applying teams will generally need university-level training in economics or equivalent experience. PAGE positively encourages teams with a female researcher as project leader. The deadline for applications (English, French, Spanish) is 13 September 2017. Link

FAO of the United Nations — FLEGT in Countries with Partnership Agreements

FAO administers the EU’s program of Forest Law Enforcement, Governance, and Trade (FLEGT). The program is open to government institutions, civil society, and private-sector organizations in timber-producing countries engaged in FLEGT’s Voluntary Partnership Agreements.  These countries are Cameroon, Central African Republic, Congo, Côte d’Ivoire,  Dem Rep Congo, Gabon, Ghana, Guyana, Honduras, Indonesia, Laos, Liberia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Thailand, and Vietnam. Grants are up to US$110 thousand. The deadline for concept notes is 15 September 2017. Link
