WCN invites letters of inquiry from registered nonprofit organizations engaged in wildlife conservation or animal welfare to apply for partnerships. Program for the Endorsement of Forest Certification — Collaboration Fund 2017
PEFC offers competitive grants in support of its mission to improve forest management and expand forest certification around the world. PEFC invites its members and other non-profit organizations to apply. Project partners may also include private and public-sector organizations. PEFC will consider proposals up to CHF 40 thousand for projects up to two years. Grantees must provide at least 35% co-funding. The deadline for applications is 31 March 2017. Link
EarthCorps — International Program 2017
EarthCorps invites applications from emerging environmental leaders around the world to participate in an environmental service program in the USA. Participants from the USA and other countries take part in field projects such as tree planting, trail construction, stream restoration, and removal of invasive plants. Projects are located in the state of Washington (i.e., not Washington, DC). Applicants should be 18-28 years of age, with a university degree in an environmental field (or equivalent work experience), and speak conversational English. International participants receive a living stipend, health insurance, and accommodations with host families. However, each participant is responsible for her/his travel to Seattle, Washington. Biodiversity Indicators Partnership — Request for Proposals
The Convention on Biological Diversity adopted the Strategic Plan for Biodiversity 2011-2020 as a framework for the biodiversity-related conventions and for the UN system as a whole. The Biodiversity Indicators Partnership (BIP) calls for proposals addressing the Aichi Biodiversity Targets 1, 3, and 15. To fill gaps in these targets, the BIP will fund proposals for indicator development up to a maximum of £75 thousand per proposal. The deadline for submissions is 31 January 2017. Link
Climate Strategies Accelerator — Breakthroughs to End the Age of Oil
The Climate Strategies Accelerator (CSA) aims to identify and support leaders with big ideas to address the complex problem of climate change. The 2017 theme is “end the age of oil.” CSA selects prototype projects and program leaders in progressive stages, beginning with a Breakthrough Lab of intensive networking and proposal development. At the end of the Breakthrough Lab, the CSA may choose to invest in one or more candidates, who would then become program leaders, receiving US$1-2 million per year for a three-year grant period to pursue their ideas. The Rainforest Biodiversity Group invites proposals for projects that contribute to the conservation of biodiversity in the Neotropics. The priority for 2017 is support for the San Juan – La Selva Biological Corridor in Costa Rica. Eligibility for funding extends to graduate students and non-profit organizations. Funding up to US$1,500 may be used for scientific research, environmental education, sustainable economic development, or other conservation activities that demonstrate benefit to the conservation of wildlife or their habitat. U.S. Agency for International Development — Fomenting Agriculture Incomes and Resilience in Guatemala
USAID announces FAIR (“Fomenting Agriculture Incomes and Resilience”) as a five-year program to reduce poverty and chronic malnutrition by increasing agricultural incomes and improving resilience of small farmers and their families in five departments of Guatemala’s Western Highlands. Funded by IRD in collaboration with several other French organizations, the program “Sud Expert Plantes Développement Durable” (SEP2D) aims to reinforce scientific research on plant biodiversity in 22 tropical countries. The eligible countries are distributed across West Africa; Central Africa; Indian Ocean; and Southeast Asia. Research themes in SEP2D are forest biodiversity; mitigation of mining activities; commercial applications of plant biodiversity; and agro-biodiversity. In comparison with the first call for proposals, Call 2 does not require prior co-funding. Additionally, research institutions or operational actors (NGOs, private or public societies, associations and CSOs, etc) are eligible to lead the partnerships. Funding is up to €40 thousand for national projects, and up to €80 thousand for regional and international projects. The application deadline is 01 March 2017. Link
