Netherlands Organisation for International Cooperation in Higher Education (NUFFIC) — Tailor-Made Training for Organizations
The Netherlands Fellowship Programs (NFP) include Tailor-made Training to build the capacity of an organization’s staff members. The programme is open to organisations in education, research, government, and civil society. Tailor-Made Training accepts proposals of organisations in NFP partner countries submitted jointly with a Dutch training provider. Application forms are available via the Netherlands embassies. Priorities include proposals focusing on Sub-Saharan Africa, and proposals focusing on food security. Funding is up to €75 thousand, with a co-funding requirement of at least 20%. Virginia Gildersleeve International Fund — Funding for Projects Led by Women
VGIF provides grants up to US$7,500 for projects that are led by women, and that help empower women and girls in grassroots communities around the globe. Most grants are for one year. Past projects include examples in farming, kitchen gardens, water supply, and other aspects of sustaining local livelihoods. The deadline for submitting letters of intent is 22 July 2016. Link
UN-Habitat — Demonstration Center for Clean Energy in Cameroon
UN-Habitat welcomes expressions of interest to build a Multifunctional Clean Energy Centre in one of the secondary towns of Cameroon. The project will serve as a demonstration center for sustainable building design, renewable energy, and provision of sanitation service through a public toilet. UN-Habitat will contribute a maximum of US$35 thousand towards the implementation of the project. The U.S. Consulate General in Mumbai seeks proposals for a project entitled “U.S.-India Conference on Waste Management.” The conference will bring together academic experts, activists, businesses, and government representatives from the USA, India, and around the world. Topics of discussion could include innovative waste management solutions; the roles of local and state governments in waste management; technological innovation; commercial opportunities in waste management; and bilateral cooperation. U.S. Department of State — Youth Debates in India on Climate Change
The North India Office of the U.S. Embassy New Delhi invites program proposals for a series of university-level youth debates on climate change and related environmental issues. The aim is to raise awareness about the complex conversations in this subject among college youth in the Indian states and territories of Delhi, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, and Uttar Pradesh. U.S. Department of State — Morocco Green Growth Climate Challenge
The U.S. Department of State will make one grant for approximately US$400 thousand to assist Morocco with a competition to help build capacity to mitigate the impacts of climate change through the use of clean energy and energy-efficient technologies. The challenge will feature small grants for workshops on energy technologies, public policy, and business development. Applications to manage the challenge are invited from non-profit NGOs; private, public, and state institutions of higher education; and for-profit organizations and businesses in the U.S. and elsewhere (e.g., Morocco). Israeli Agency for International Development Cooperation (MASHAV) — Professional Training in Israel 2016
MASHAV funds professional courses organized and hosted by Israeli institutions in subject areas that include agriculture, energy, natural resources, health, education, and social development. The remainder of the 2016 calendar includes a course on agri-green management (i.e., agri-environmental considerations related to climate change), with application deadline on 04 September 2016. A course on agri-business for rural women has an application deadline on 05 September 2016. A course on policies, strategies, and support systems for rural revitalization has a deadline on 09 September 2016. Applications are submitted through Israel’s diplomatic missions. For most courses, MASHAV covers course fees, accommodation, medical insurance, and other expenses in Israel (but not international airfare). Link
V. Kann Rasmussen Foundation — Climate Change and Environment
The V. Kann Rasmussen Foundation makes grants to address threats caused by climate change, unsustainable consumption, and loss of biodiversity. The Foundation works primarily in the USA on issues that are national and international. British Council — Workshop Grants for Researchers
The Researcher Links Workshops bring together early-career researchers from the UK and partner countries to allow them to make international connections that can improve the quality of their research. The current call is for bilateral workshops of 3-5 days between the UK and Russia. Proposals must be joint applications, with one coordinator based at a UK institution and one based in Russia.
