FONTAGRO seeks applications to improve the sustainability and resilience of production systems in the face of the impact of climate change in Latin America and the Caribbean without increasing greenhouse gas emissions. FONTAGRO will co-finance up to four proposals for a maximum amount of US$200 thousand each. Applicants have to register before submitting proposals. The registration deadline is 03 April 2024. The Innovate 4 Nature Award honors projects, companies, and entrepreneurs that have developed promising, high-quality nature-positive solutions. The four key areas of the I4N Award are sustainable management of ecosystems; nature as infrastructure; regenerative agriculture; and circular nature-positive solutions. The award offers a total of CHF 100 thousand in prize money. In addition to the financial support, award winners can benefit from access to an ecosystem of partners and experts. Vital Voices offers GROW Fellowships to women entrepreneurs who own small and medium-sized businesses. The program includes customized business skills training, technical assistance, leadership development, and access to networks to grow their businesses. Thematic business areas may include agriculture, fisheries, and forestry with potential for growth. A limited number of need and merit-based scholarships will be available. Explore will award partial scholarships of up to US$40 thousand to female doctoral students researching forest landscape governance in Southeast Asia. Eligible applicants must be women PhD students under 32 years old and be citizens of Cambodia, Lao PDR, Myanmar, or Timor-Leste. Applicants from any scientific discipline related to forest landscape governance are welcome. Applicants need to apply by 30 April 2024. Link

SFIAR annually awards a prize to scientists working at or in association with a Swiss institution in agricultural research for development. For 2024, the best team project will be awarded CHF10 thousand, and the best masters thesis CHF1 thousand. The German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development seeks solutions that use agricultural technologies and digital tools (agritech) to enhance the profitability of smallholder farmers in Latin America, improving their resilience to climate change. Selected entities will receive grants of up to US$ 85 thousand to fund technical assistance projects tailored to the conditions, needs, and potential of smallholder farmers. ACIAR awards the John Allwright Fellowship for university postgraduate studies in Australia. In 2024, the program on applications from partner countries in the African region, South Asia, East and Southeast Asia, and the Pacific region. The SAIS Female Founder Award is a company development and accelerator program for African tech start-ups in the agriculture, food, and livestock sectors. The award aims to strengthen the visibility of female-led start-ups and to promote female founders in Africa. The three winners will win in-kind support worth up to €30 thousand. Rockstart funds and empowers purpose-driven founders scaling impactful solutions by leveraging emerging technologies and new business models that improve the food supply. Rockstart invests in early-stage startups with a focus on agri-tech and food-tech. It seeks solutions that restore soils and oceans to become powerhouses for CO2 capture, innovations that create value from wasted food and reduce food loss, and tools that provide consumers with better access to trustworthy, nutritious food. The Japan International Research Center for Agricultural Sciences (JIRCAS) and the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF) of Japan make research awards in agriculture. Up to three young agricultural researchers with outstanding research proposals in agriculture, forestry, fisheries, and related themes will receive US$5 thousand each to further their research. Applicants must be nationals of a developing country, and belong to a non-Japanese research institute or a non-Japanese university. Candidates need to be younger than age 40 to be eligible.
