The Australian Center for International Agricultural Research (ACIAR) supports postgraduate research studies by providing scholarships in agriculture and fisheries at the University of the South Pacific and Fiji National University. Students undertake applied agricultural research at selected Pacific universities to build an agricultural innovation system and contribute to the agricultural research capacity of the student, the university, and the country of origin. Applicants must be citizens of and currently reside in Fiji, Kiribati, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Tuvalu, or Vanuatu. The closing date for submissions is 23 October 2024. The International Centre for Advanced Mediterranean Agronomic Studies (CIHEAM) invites applications for the Youth Innovation Award. CIHEAM will reward an innovative solution (scientific or entrepreneurship product/service) that contributes to the green and blue transition to improve human well-being and social equity while reducing environmental risks and ecological scarcities and contributing to zero climate impact. The Charles Bullard Fellowship in Forest Research supports advanced research and study by individuals. The fellowships are generally awarded to individuals in mid-career from all around the world who have established themselves in academia, public service, or the private sector. Research areas include, for example, forest ecology, tree physiology, forest soils, forest resource management, conservation and biodiversity issues, forest land planning, and the arts. The Bullard Fellowship is a residential program and Fellows are expected to spend a substantial portion at either Harvard Forest in Petersham (USA) or at Harvard University in Cambridge (USA). The fellowships carry stipends of up to US$60 thousand, depending on the duration of each fellowship. International researchers receive additional support for the visa process and logistics. The SDG Challenge invites research teams to develop innovative solutions that contribute to SDG 2: Zero Hunger, “End hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition and promote sustainable agriculture”. Eligible partner countries are Cambodia; Laos; Palestine; Vietnam; ODA-eligible countries on the African continent; and ODA-eligible Small Island Developing States. Teams will receive up to €250 thousand to develop their idea. The International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) intends to allocate grant funds for the implementation of the grant Smallholder Economic Empowerment through the Digital Solutions program. Interested applicants are invited to submit a proposal for the services required for the implementation of the program. Right Sharing of World Resources (RSWR) makes seed grants to support income-generating projects led by women. RSWR’s current priorities are grassroots organizations selected states and districts of India; and Quaker groups in Kenya and Sierra Leone. Projects include many in the production and sale of fruits and vegetables; meat and milk; grain crops; fish; fuelwood; and other enterprises associated with small-scale agriculture and rural livelihoods. Grants are usually US$5,500 (but many are considerably smaller) for a one-year project. The application deadline is 31 December each year. 100+ Accelerator seeks collaborative partnerships with farmers who produce high-yielding and quality crops sustainably. The Accelerator delivers 6 months of remote training to accelerate the collaboration and growth of cohort companies. The Belmont Forum aims to coordinate actions and projects with a transdisciplinary approach to develop innovative solutions to the challenges faced in tropical forest regions. The Belmont Forum will fund three-year projects. This call for proposals recognizes the growing threats to those ecosystems and their inhabitants, such as climate change, deforestation, unregulated agroindustry and land conversion, illegal activities, pollution, and environmental/climate injustices.
