The European Commission seeks to increase the capacity of civil society, youth organizations, farmers’ organizations and local authorities as drivers of local development. The goal is to create opportunities for youth employment, especially in rural areas, as well as social entrepreneurship in rural/marginalized areas. The overall amount made available under this call for proposals is €500 thousand. Halcyon supports African entrepreneurs with innovative solutions that can improve the livelihoods of farmers while increasing access to quality food for the most vulnerable. The Food & Agtech Fellowship will be delivered in a hybrid modality, with three virtual meetings, a one week in-person residency at Halcyon and a one week in-person residency in Nairobi. Participants receive US$5 thousand per venture equity-free stipend to use toward travel expenses to attend the residencies, a one week long residency at Halcyon’s facilities in Washington, DC (USA), and a one week long residency in Nairobi (Kenya). The Food for Progress Program provides for the donation of U.S. agricultural commodities to developing countries committed to expanding free enterprise in the agricultural sector. The objective is to improve agricultural productivity and to expand trade of agricultural products. The Program has prioritized the following areas: the Cacao sector, the Coffee sector, the Spices sector, Sanitary and Phytosanitary Standards, the Trade Facilitation Agreement, and Climate Smart Agriculture. The estimated funding per award is US$20-US$39 million. The following entities are eligible to apply: governments of emerging agricultural countries, nonprofit organizations, universities, and any other private entity. The Regional Universities Forum for Capacity Building in Agriculture (RUFORUM) and the Global Research Alliance on Agricultural Greenhouse Gases (GRA) invite applications from RUFORUM Member Universities. Graduate Research Grants aim at building the capability of graduate students and post-graduate scientists in Africa to conduct applied research on agricultural greenhouse gasses. The Regional Universities Forum for Capacity Building in Agriculture (RUFORUM) and the Global Research Alliance on Agricultural Greenhouse Gases (GRA) invite applications from RUFORUM Member Universities. Doctoral Research Grants aim to train PhD students in Africa to conduct advanced applied research on livestock greenhouse gasses. Applications are open for the VALUE4HER Women Agripreneur of the Year Awards (WAYA). The award recognizes African women agripreneurs who have demonstrated remarkable innovation in their business by having an impact in food security, climate resilience, women and youth employment. WAYA recognizes women in three distinct categories, with each receiving a US$20 thousand cash prize. The World Food Program (WFP) is the world’s largest humanitarian agency fighting hunger worldwide, delivering food assistance in emergencies and working with communities to improve nutrition and build resilience. The program seeks profit and non-profit organizations with great ideas and bold solutions to solve hunger globally. The Innovation Accelerator offers financial support, training and access to WFP partners and technical experts. The Asian Forest Cooperation Organization (AFoCO) calls for applications for the “2023-2024 Landmark Scholarship Program”. AFoCO will select one candidate for doctoral degree course and three candidates for a master’s degree course. Applicants must be citizens of ASEAN Member Countries, namely Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Lao PDR, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand or Vietnam. Acumen Academy and the Environmental Defense Fund launch a Latin American Artisanal Fisheries Leadership Program for Change Agents leading equitable and sustainable fisheries initiatives. The program is open to leaders with at least 5 years of experience leading artisanal fishing organizations or initiatives or within fishing communities. The program offers leadership training and a strong community to develop future projects. The program only accepts applications from change agents from the artisanal fishing industry working in any Latin American country, including Caribbean countries. The German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) seeks scalable innovative solutions that support farmers and other agriculture stakeholders to build capabilities to mitigate effects of climate change on low- and middle-income countries. Selected teams will be invited to participate in a virtual WFP Innovation Bootcamp and receive up to US$150 thousand in funding. The geographical focus is Sub-Saharan Africa.
