The Explore Preparatory Grant Mechanism (Explore) is a research network and community of practice dedicated to expanding and applying knowledge on forest landscape governance in Southeast Asia. Explore seeks new ideas for research in forest landscape governance, which will be developed into research proposals. Explore will support research preparatory grants ranging from US$3 thousand to US$15 thousand, depending on the complexity and scale of the issues addressed. In addition to funding, Explore provides training and mentorship by scientific experts. The call for concept notes is open to all scientific disciplines and fields of research related to forest landscape governance. Professors, senior scientists and postdoctoral researchers affiliated with universities and think-tanks in Southeast Asia are eligible to apply. The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) in Mali accepts the submission of concept papers focused on catalyzing private sector investment for Mali’s economic recovery through inclusive and sustainable development. Concept papers should focus on inclusive and sustainable agriculture-led growth. Funding for individual applications is anticipated to be in the range of US$250 thousand to US$1,5 million to be provided over a period of 2-5 years. The call is open to private sector entities from any country, although Malian private sector entities are of particular interest. Tzedek is a Jewish charitable organization aiming to reduce extreme poverty, focusing on grassroots projects in Africa and Asia. Tzedek supports local NGOs with the aim to develop partnerships to secure livelihoods of the poorest and most disadvantaged. The Overseas Project Team (OPT) operates Tzedek’s Partnership Project Grants scheme. Projects funded in the past include vocational training, micro-credit, livelihood startups, livestock, agriculture and more. The OPT meets 4-6 times a year. The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) launches a Photo Contest on Salt-Affected Soils. Its purpose is to offer participants the opportunity to share their testimonies on the effects of soil salinity and sodification while raising awareness about the dangers posed by these soil threats. Each participant can submit up to five entries. Entrants must own the copyright and must have taken the photographs themselves. The first three prizes will respectively win a cash prize of US$500, US$300 and US$200. Additional prizes will be awarded to the first 10 shortlisted finalists. Submission closes 30 September 2021. The European Commission (EC) seeks to improve farm structure in North Macedonia to improve the competitiveness of its agricultural sector. The EC calls for land consolidation projects to reduce land fragmentation, improve parcel shapes and increase the size of agricultural holdings. The overall indicative amount made available under this call for proposals is €1 million, but budgets of proposed actions should range from €1,1 million to €1,6 million. The difference between the total cost of the action and the amount requested must be financed from other sources. Eligibility extends to nonprofit organizations. Feed the Minds supports projects which empower people in least developed, low income and lower to middle income countries through the Education for Change program. Projects are implemented by local non-governmental organizations or community-based organizations working to support marginalized communities. Specific projects include vocational training, agriculture, on-farm and off farm income generating activities. Medium projects with budgets between £25 thousand and £150 thousand will be supported. The Asia Network for Sustainable Agriculture and Bioresources (ANSAB) invites civil society organizations from Fiji, Nepal and Vietnam to submit their expression of interest for possible funding to implement sub-projects. The objective of the proposal should be to strengthen the knowledge of targeted CSOs at local and national levels through trainings, workshops, awareness campaigns, and local meetings. Capacity building activities should enable participants to understand the impacts of climate change on local communities and locally-based sustainable livelihoods. Anticipated funding for each sub-project is US$90 thousand for 9 months. Proposed activities are to be implemented in Fiji, Nepal and Vietnam for the benefit of local communities. The African Union Sanitary and Phytosanitary (SPS) Policy Framework aims to facilitate harmonization of AU Member States’ SPS policy priorities of SPS systems in Africa. The Scientific Exchanges Program (SEP) supports USDA’s agricultural research goals of promoting collaborative programs among agricultural professionals of the African Union and agricultural professionals of the United States. The research areas are aligned within the three overarching areas of SPS including: food safety, animal health, and plant health. The fellowship will last 12 weeks. The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) seeks applications for a cooperative agreement from qualified entities to implement the Feed the Future Mozambique Integrated Resilience in Nutrition & Agriculture (RESINA) program. The goal of this activity is to recover and pursue pathways out of poverty and take part in inclusive and sustained economic and social growth.
