The European Commission seeks to identify and finance projects aimed at strengthening cooperation within Europe on disaster prevention and preparedness. Prevention projects may be any actions aimed at reducing risks or mitigating adverse consequences of disasters for people, the environment and property, including cultural heritage. Preparedness projects focus on strengthening preparedness for responding to emergencies, environment and marine pollution. The EU co-funding rate amounts to 85 % of total eligible costs, with a maximum EU contribution of EUR 1 million for grants awarded under the internal budget (EU countries) and EUR 400 thousand for grants awarded under the external budget (neighboring countries). Eligibility extends to private entities, public entities, and international organisations established in the European Union or Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine, Algeria, Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Palestine and Tunisia. The yher accelerator provides support to female entrepreneurs and female-led impact ventures across Africa. The aim of the program is to provide solutions to poverty by empowering women. The program provides access to mentors, training and a week-long intensive training workshop. Winners of the peer review will receive US$25 thousand in funding and the chance to apply for an additional AU$10 thousand to AU$50 thousand to help scale their venture. The European Commission aims to promote sustainable growth in Asia and Central Asia and to support the development of a green economy and the transition towards a low-carbon economy. Proposals should fall under the following sustainable consumption and production sectors: agri-food processing, renewable energy, sustainable tourism, waste management, among others. Any grant requested under this call for proposals must fall between €1-3 million. Eligibility extends to non-profit organizations and business. The Civil Society Scholar Awards (CSSA) provide grants to doctoral students and university faculty members from Africa, Eurasia, Eastern Europe, MENA region, Central Asia, South Asia and the Caribbean (eligible countries are listed in the announcement). Subject areas include sustainable development and natural resource management, among others. Eligibility extends to PhD students of relevant fields studying at universities inside or outside of their home country; or full-time faculty members (minimum of a Master’s degree) teaching at universities in their home country. The Department of Science and Technology (India) and the National Technological Innovation Authority (Israel) announce the 4th India-Israel Technological Innovation Fund. The objective of this programme is to respond to the global issues concerning science & technology for the water, energy and agricultural sector while developing technologies that can be commercialized and localized within 2 years. The Bower Award is made to individuals who have made significant contributions to understanding and quantifying perturbations of natural systems within the biosphere, atmosphere, or hydrosphere in the age of the Anthropocene. The award is a 14k gold medal and a cash prize of US$250 thousand. The competition is open internationally. Self-nominations are accepted. The International Land Coalition (ILC) invites applications for the second cohort of the Community Land Protection Co-Learning Initiative. The Co-Learning Initiative is designed to build a supportive cross-regional community of practice to facilitate learning between community land rights advocates. The one week-long workshop focuses on practical and proven strategies for community land protection. The Monsanto Fund makes grants to strengthen agricultural communities in several countries around the world. Grants of US$25 thousand and more are available to tax-exempt charitable organizations for activities and projects that address farmers’ education and training; food security; community water and sanitation; and other local needs. Monsanto’s international grants are administered at the country level. The Fund presents a list of eligible countries. Monsanto accepts international applications during two periods each year.
