The Cornell Atkinson Center for Sustainability invites applications for its Postdoctoral Fellowship in Sustainability, supporting early-career researchers conducting interdisciplinary projects that address global sustainability challenges. Fellows work under the mentorship of a Cornell faculty member and an external partner organization, with research aligned to one or more of the Center’s priority areas: Accelerating Energy Transitions, Reducing Climate Risk, Increasing Food Security, and One Health. Eligible applicants are researchers who have earned, or will earn, a PhD within two years of the fellowship start date. Up to four fellowships will be awarded, each providing a three-year appointment, an annual salary of US$65,000, full employee benefits, and US$12,000 per year for research and travel expenses. In this 12-week course, participants will learn about efforts to sustainably manage extractive industry investments. Applicants who are sustainable development practitioners, such as those who work in corporate sustainability and responsibility or renewable energy, graduate students and climate change activists or are particularly encouraged to participate. The Google Startups for Sustainable Development Program is a global online initiative that supports early-stage technology startups addressing one or more of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The program offers expert mentorship, access to Google’s platform technologies—including cloud, AI tools, and datasets—funding connections without equity requirements, and community-building through virtual events and peer engagement. Tools with a Mission (TWAM) supports livelihood projects in Rwanda, Burundi, Malawi, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia or Zimbabwe. The program ships tools and school books to registered charities and NGOs either working in Africa or based in Africa. Organizations can apply for different kits, including the Agricultural Tool Kit, the Electricians Kit, and the Plumbers Tool Kit. The Ford Philanthropy Fellowship invites applications from entrepreneurs and community leaders developing solutions in community development, education, and disaster preparedness and response. Eligible applicants are adults aged 18 or older leading ventures or organizations that have operated for one to five years with fewer than 10 team members and demonstrated impact. The fellowship is open to applicants creating impact in Brazil, Germany, Mexico, South Africa, Thailand, and Vietnam, with priority given to those working in Ford plant communities and areas affected by recurring disasters. The fully funded program includes entrepreneurial training, expert mentorship, leadership workshops, access to financial tools and networks, and a community development stipend to support a local Basecamp event. Career Development Awards provide funding for mid-career researchers from any discipline who have the potential to be international research leaders. Research can be in any discipline, including STEM, experimental medicine, or climate – as long as it has the potential to improve human life. The Trust provides a salary for the grant holder and research expenses for up to 8 years. The Global Environment Facility (GEF) Small Grants Programme invites civil society organizations to apply for the CSO Challenge Program, which supports the scaling and replication of proven environmental solutions that generate global environmental benefits while strengthening local communities. Eligible applicants are civil society organizations with successful initiatives that align with one of five priority areas: community-based management of threatened ecosystems and species; sustainable agriculture or fisheries and food security; low-carbon energy access; chemicals and waste management; or sustainable urban solutions. The program provides grants of up to US$300 thousand. The first call is open to civil society organizations in Eastern Europe, the Caucasus, and Central Asia. Each year, the Lipman Family Prize awards cash to three social impact organizations – US$250 thousand for the winning organization and US$125 thousand for each of the two other honorees. The award recognizes and amplifies the work of organizations devoted to positive social impact and creating sustainable solutions to significant social and economic challenges. Past winners include projects in the field of improved sanitation, energy innovations, and micro-forestry.
