The UNICEF Venture Fund provides up to US$100 thousand in equity-free investments to provide seed funding to for-profit technology start-ups developing software solutions using frontier technologies for climate action. The “Boosting Resilience and Adaptation to Climate Change (BREACH)” program has the objective to increase systemic resilience to climate change and food crises in Somalia. The European Commission calls for proposals that improve prevention of and preparedness for food crises in communities in vulnerable situations, achieve durable solutions to displacement, and combat the climate crisis through reforestation and land restoration. The Young One World Lead2030 Challenge for SDG 12 seeks to reduce waste and the release of toxins into the environment which will ultimately improve health outcomes. Projects should focus on the link between waste and health, recycling or reuse programs for individuals or companies, or preventing food waste and food loss. The challenge welcomes solutions from young innovators (18-30 years old). Africa ClimAccelerator supports promising climate impact ideas and early-stage businesses with climate tech solutions through business support and capacity building. The program seeks applications from early- to mid-stage African startups with solutions that are addressing the impacts of climate change and building the resilience of communities. The program provides business coaching, professional guidance on finance, support defining the climate impact potential of their solution, and preparation for future investment opportunities. The Adaptation Fund Climate Innovation Accelerator (AFCIA) accepts applications for small grant funding. Grants are US$60 thousand (for new pilot projects) or US$125 thousand (for organizations with established customers). Funding should be used to enhance local climate action through the implementation of innovative locally-led adaptation practices, tools, and technologies. Grant funding is open to non-profit organizations, civil society organizations, business member associations, cooperatives, and community-based organizations registered in a developing country. The European Commission seeks to contribute to green and inclusive economic growth in Mexico by strengthening the capacity of civil society to participate and influence reinforcing nature-based climate change adaptation measures. Project partners should prioritize the implementation and monitoring of public policies for adaptation to climate change, through measures based on coastal and maritime ecosystems. Applicants may request up to €1.8 million for their action plans. Eligibility extends to non-profit civil society organizations established in a Member State of the European Union or Mexico.
