Climate Tracker invited applications for collaborative grants on just and sustainable energy transition in Southeast Asia. Fellows will receive training and be mentored by journalists and experts on a just energy transition. Selected fellows will benefit from grants to fund their in field reporting and publication and a network of like-minded journalists across the region. Applicants must apply as a team with another journalist from their country. Both applicants can be from the same or a different media outlet. The deadline to apply is 09 September 2022. More

The Haiti Clean Cooking Fund provides financial and technical assistance to support the growth of clean cooking companies in Haiti. The size of individual awards will range from US$25 thousand to US$250 thousand. The Fund will give preference to companies that can provide matched funding (50%). The Fund is open to companies and nonprofit entities in Haiti. Non-Haitian Companies may participate, provided they have an interest in entering the Haitian market or partnering with a local Haitian entity to manufacture, supply, and distribute clean cooking solutions in Haiti on a commercial basis. The Earth Journalism Network (EJN) offers grants to boost reporting on renewable energy in India. ENJ will support the production of in-depth stories on the prospects, problems and pathways forward for renewable energy. In addition to funding, selected journalists will receive support from experienced mentors through the story production process. ENJ expects to award story grants with an average budget of US$1,200 each. Applications are open to India-based journalists and other expert media practitioners with a demonstrated interest in reporting on the renewable energy sector, or other topics related to energy and the environment. The FRE-E-WASTE program is a two-day workshop, followed by a co-production of a manual on e-waste for Southeast Asian environmental enthusiasts aged between 18 to 35. The program aims to raise awareness on the problem of e-waste and educate that greenhouse gasses could be reduced or avoided if e-waste were properly treated and recycled. Crowd4SDG seeks research projects that address the issues of climate resilience and justice. Participants may submit a project or an idea for a solution that supports individuals and communities’ preparedness for Climate Change. The challenge offers a 5-week online interactive coaching program. The selected applicants will be coached on how to turn an initial idea into a compelling crowdsourcing project. The top two teams will be invited to present their projects to potential UN and NGO partner organizations as well as impact investors. The U.S. Department of State announces an open competition for organizations to submit applications to carry out a program to conduct a series of virtual storytelling and filmmaking classes to multiple countries within the Pacific Island Region. “My Climate Story” will offer master classes to enable Pacific Islander youth to use their smartphone and tell how climate change affects them. Prospective applicants must submit a draft schedule of virtual sessions involving storytelling and filmmaking curriculum, to be conducted over an eight-week period. Awards may range from a minimum of US$25 thousand to a maximum of US$30 thousand. Eligibility extends to non-profit organizations, educational institutions, international organizations, and governmental institutions. The closing date for applications is 12 August 2022. USAID seeks climate change and environmental solutions from youth-led organizations across the MENA region. Organizations are invited to submit applications for a regional grant competition where selected organizations will receive up to US$62 thousand to implement their proposed climate initiatives. Applicants must be locally registered in one of the following countries: Egypt, Iraq, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Jordan, Tunisia, West Bank/Gaza or Yemen. The application deadline is 19 August 2022. The European Commission (EC) seeks to increase public and private-sector awareness of renewable energy & energy efficiency policies contributing to sustainable energy supply, consumption and security in Vietnam. The program will fund initiatives with up to €3.5 million. Eligibility to apply extends to non-profit civil society organizations or international organizations established in Vietnam or in a Member State of the European Union. The Wilson Center announces a call for applications for the “Agents of Change Youth Fellowship,” a professional fellowship program for emerging leaders seeking meaningful careers at the intersection of climate change and security. The program is open to applicants from countries in the MENA region with a minimum of 5 years of work experience. Fellows can be located in any geographic location with strong Internet access for conducting regular video conferences. Applications are due by 15 September 2022. MENA Youth Fellowship

UNIDO seeks innovative technology solutions that address the adverse effects of climate change and that have the potential to be scaled up, and thus ultimately contribute to inclusive and sustainable economic development. Priority will be given to applications with solutions for: decarbonizing growing urban environments, generating and distributing clean energy, recycling for more climate-cautious consumption, and innovative solutions for sustainable land management. The call is addressed to private sector entities (micro, small, medium, and large companies & startups). Twelve winners will have the opportunity to present their innovative solution to a large audience during the Global Call award ceremony and will benefit from promotional and networking support.
