The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) launches the challenge Cities for All, which seeks to identify urban challenges in Latin American and Caribbean cities. The call focuses on vulnerability and resilience to climate change and natural disasters, among other themes. Three teams will be selected to receive technical assistance of up to $35 thousand, to work on the implementation of a prototype or pilot project. A2A seeks concept papers to explore CCUS technologies and the potential markets for CO2 products. This challenge is designed specifically for methods that offer solutions to capture and reuse CO2. The U.S. Mission to Pakistan makes grants to establish partnerships between U.S. and Pakistani universities and organizations to build Pakistani capacity to adapt to and mitigate climate change. The U.S. Mission estimates to make three awards between US$200 thousand and US$500 thousand each. The partnerships will facilitate curriculum development, collaborative research, virtual exchanges, sharing of resources, professional development, and exchanges. The NAMA Facility Ambition Initiative supports countries who plan to increase their emissions reduction plans and gear toward a carbon-neutral economy. The German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMU) provides funding and invites project applications for a combination of technical assistance and climate finance, to enable partner countries to implement their enhanced NDCs. EIT Climate-KIC invites proposals from Higher Education Institutions and other organizations from across Europe that are willing to deliver the Climate Leadership Journey program in their local ecosystems. The program will empower future leaders and innovators from all disciplines and all university and training levels to become active change agents. The Children’s Climate Prize invites innovative and groundbreaking ideas and solutions on the issue of climate change. The prize is awarded to children aged 12-17 who have made extraordinary efforts for the climate and environment. The winners will be invited to Sweden and receive prize money of SEK 100 thousand to continue to develop their projects. The International Fact-Checking Network welcomes applications to their Climate Misinformation Grant program. The initiative supports organizations working to combat misinformation to actor, behavioral, and content trends that are unique to climate change. Climate Misinformation Grant amounts will range up to US$100 thousand. Organizations around the world are encouraged to apply. The application deadline is 27 November 2021. GSMA Innovation Fund for Climate Resilience and Adaptation seeks to help accelerate the testing, adoption and scalability of digital innovations that enable the world’s most vulnerable populations to adapt to the negative impacts of climate change. GSMA aims to test innovations that can increase the capacity of low-income and vulnerable communities to adapt, and develop approaches or business models that can be scaled to build climate resilience and adaptation. Successful projects will receive an equity-free grant of between £100 thousand and £250 thousand to scale their innovation over a 15 to 18 month period. The New European Bauhaus Climate Acceleration Program provides support to the most promising climate and sustainability ventures. The program seeks to support green transition in cities through architectural, cultural, and historic sites, for example, natural building materials and energy efficiency, sustainable alternatives for hardscapes as urban spaces, or urban farming and regenerative agriculture to reduce emissions. Four companies will each receive a € 25 thousand prize to accelerate their growth and a tailored package of supporting services. The Climate Smart Cities Challenge is an opportunity for cities to participate as implementation partners in a city-based open innovation competition for cutting-edge solutions to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Interventions can be across multiple sectors or a combination, such as waste management, food production, energy systems, ecosystems, green space development, and others. The competition invites cities from all around the world to apply with their ideas for creating thriving communities. Selected cities will receive help to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
