The Earth Journalism Network (EJN) offers media grants to immigrant, Black, Indigenous and people of color-serving newsrooms and media collectives in the United States and Canada to support innovative, investigative, and/or enterprise reporting projects on environmental or climate change. EJN anticipates supporting three organizations with grants of US$8,000 each. Immigrant and/or BIPOC-serving media in the United States and Canada are eligible to apply. The Youth Climate Innovation (YCI) Program supports young innovators from developing countries as they develop high-impact climate technology solutions that are both locally relevant and globally adaptable. Participants benefit from mentorship, coaching and access to a network of investors and institutions focused on climate technology. The program is open to individuals and teams between 18 and 35 years old from Africa, MENA, Latin America and the Caribbean, or Asia-Pacific. The application deadline is 20 October 2024. Climate Tracker supports journalists from Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Panama, and Peru to cover in person or virtually the COP16 on Biodiversity in Colombia (October/November 2024). Climate Tracker will select six journalists for travel to Colombia, to cover COP16 in person. Village Capital seeks entrepreneurs across Latin America to increase food security and resilience by supporting startups focused on reshaping consumer behavior and reducing loss risk in production. Participants have access to mentorship and milestone-based funding of US$4 thousand per organization. Eligibility extends to for-profit entities in Latin America that have a market-based solution that tackles food loss and food waste challenges. Applications close on 31 May 2024. The Vienna Biocenter Summer School provides undergraduate students with the opportunity to work side by side with leading researchers in a dynamic scientific environment. Each fellow will be allocated a faculty member, with whom they will work closely. The research project will focus on a current topic in the allocated lab. Selected fellows receive free student accommodation, a stipend of €1400 euros, medical insurance and other benefits. Eligibility for this award is limited to local organizations. The total estimated amount is anticipated at US$9.5 million. Village Capital invites applications for the “Innovation for Ecosystem Restoration: LatAm 2023” accelerator. The  program addresses entrepreneurs championing forest restoration, restoration of aquatic production ecosystems and rewilding throughout Latin America. Participants will receive mentorship and access to an investment analyst. Eligibility extends to (for-profit) startups building locally viable ecosystem restoration solutions. The Global Environment Facility (GEF) finances international environmental conventions and country-driven initiatives related to climate change response in developing countries. The GEF provides grants to support climate reporting activities to help countries identify and subsequently implement ambitious climate action. The Swedish Institute Management Program (SIMP) Northern and Eastern Europe seeks ambitious and innovative leaders who want to learn more about sustainable business practices. The international leadership program offers proven tools and knowledge from experts with the goal to help participants to develop and implement an action-oriented sustainability strategy. The Swedish Institute covers the cost of training and content for all participants. Participants of the SIMP program will be selected from both businesses and organizations.
